ls boost setup
ok so i know that thier is million threads about boosting the ls engine. But i want to know what the engine can handle(and for how long) on bone stock internals. I want to get the ls swap and run it na for a month or two till i get the parts & money for a turbo,but i dont want to upgrade the internals. i have a poor mans gsr that is currently in my 98 civic coupe but it isnt running nd i need a dd right now. so i want to but the ls swap in nd have as much fun with it bone stock as possible.
also my hp goals im hoping for 250-275whp. nothing crazy just fun for the summer.

You already know there are a million threads about boosting the LS...then why aren't you able to find your answer out there amongst these other threads? I know this has been covered in detail 1000x before.
Your goals of 250-275whp are fine and as long as you build a quality setup, have reasonable goals, tune it professionally, and regularly service the engine, you shouldn't have any issues with longevity. Problems arise from over-stressing parts, but more often from laziness and bad maintenance

yeah same meaning different names. its the first gen b16a head.
but i think that im just going to scrape up the money and get a gsr longblock from hmo..they are sold out of the ls engines anyways.

Depending on price, it might be cheaper to find a block locally and rebuild it for boost. You might be surprised how little it can cost if you're willing to put in the time and effort

The op asked what a stock ls can handle. I had a bone stock ls prior to my current car. I had the boost set and tuned at 11 psi with no problems. Im not entirely sure what was so mind boggling about my previous post but that is why I said boost at 11 psi.

psi doesnt translate to whp
11psi doesnt = 150whp
a gt30 on 11psi is different on a gt28rs
real world example:
my setup on 10psi yeilds me 345whp

No one of any experiences uses that direct correlation like that without knowing what turbocharger is used.
Here's an example.I could take a T25, be at 14psi, and make XXwhp. I turn it up to 17psi, and because of the fact that its efficiency range is maxed at 15psi anyway, increasing boost pressure would not yield more hp. It would just create more heat.
I do the same thing to a GT3076R, and I actually could make more power, but oops!!! I have a crappy intercooler.. More boost can't make more power because the intercooler can't exchange heat properly.
PSI means very little without knowing the turbocharger and efficiency range.

I already knew that different size turbos are going to have different air density due to having a cooler air charge if the size of the turbo is larger because it has less work to do. What I should have said is that 11 psi will bring him to his goal if hes running a gt3076 like I was running.

why not just get the poormans type whatever running and dont waste money on a different engine ?
Otherwise i can get you a really good deal on a gsr swap. motor has 6500 miles on it since rebuild with all OE parts.
