Ok Two months ago I took my head off. Left the valves and stuff all in it and set it of to the side. Well now im getting ready to put it all back together. I just read a thread about lost motion assemblies and if you dont oil them up they will tick or make a funny noise. I did a search on it and only found two things relating to it, but didnt awnser my question. So either EVERYONE oils them up and it all works good and thats why noone has asked about them. Or it dosent matter? Also Theres still oil and such on the head I never wiped it off so do you think if i just pour some oil over every thing before I install, it will be ok?
I soaked mine in oul for a month or so...thats just how long it took for me to acquire all of my parts needed to reassemble the motor.
Make sure the cams have assembly lube on them when you put them back in, or soak them in oil...

Yea im using assembly lube...I just saw your post on another thread about the LMA's thats why I made this thread. Cause I dont want unwanted noises.
Since I already have an upgraded valvetrain I didnt take it apart but if those things are going to tick then I might have to.

Hehe i thought you saw my post. I soaked mine like i said, then i put them in the motor. 2 days later, i started it. The motor doesnt really tick, no more than usual. Maybe just pour oil allll over them, hopefully you will be straight
You want to apply oil to the lma's and also the pistons that go in the rocker arms if you need to reassemble those. Use plenty of cam lube also, then before you put the valve cover on pour oil over everything in the head because on startup it will take a little bit for it to circulate.
I found oil below the LMA's in the bores (holes) they sit in. It was cleaner than the oil outside around the head. I wonder if Honda put oil in there before inserting the LMA's in. Oil in there = good dampening?
the LMA's can fail after a while. my head was never disassembled and now all my LMA's are ticking. i tried removing and cleaning them but they still all tick. pisses me off to no end.

You don't need to put oil in them. They are self lubing through the small horzontal holes at the top of each of them. I have never had a problem without prelubing them.
your worrying about nothing. and when it comes time to start a newly assembled motor pull the valve cover and crank it till oil starts coming out of the oil spray bars. that should fill all the oil passages.
