Head is not getting any oil. any suggestions?
my cousin was driving around 60mph on the freeway when his timing belt snapped. so we towed the car back to his cousins house, where i pulled the head, then had the bent valves replaced, etc. bought a new headgasket, timing belt and tensioner.
after that, i put the head back on, torqued everything down to spec, and the car ran fine for 2 days. afterward, the motor started making a "metal to metal" noise. it sounded like it was coming from the head, like the cams were grinding against the cam caps/journals. eventually the car died and wouldnt start.
so we towed it back to his house, and i pulled off the valve cover. normally there would be oil all over the springs and cams and such, but there was no oil in the head. it was dry. i checked the oil level on the dip stick and there was plenty of oil in the oil pan.
any suggestions what it could be? i was thinking the oil pump may have gone bad. lmk thanks.

i would look into your cam caps, usually theyll scar up, and cause friction and sieze. ide look into getting some new caps.

If the oil pump goes bad, then there wouldn't have been any oil pressure at all, which would have caused the oil light to come on. Since you didn't mention it, it probably didn't. Did you put the right head gasket on for that engine?

you replaced the head gasket? double check it, ive heard stories of cams burning causd the gasket was fucky and blocked a oil passage.

either head gasket, or your oil pump was damaged when the timing belt went - along with the rest of the valve train, and needs replacing as well.

im sorry if i sound like a jackass.. but for soem reason, when my cams locked up.. it jumped time, and woudln't start... normal driving to...
after pulling the cams i found that problem, replaced the caps, reset time, and drove it for another year.
to this day, i have no clue why they locked up.. and i have still yet to put in a oil pump.

Did you check to see if ALL of the oil passages were clear when you did this job, and that they all lined up with the holes in the new head gasket? If you did all this, maybe you should pull the pan off and have a look to see if anything is wrong in there. (oil pick up, etc)
You must have done that head gasket pretty fast, how long did it take you?
