Default at a loss for words... help please

ok, first off im posting this here because it seems like all the FI guys have had alot more experiece with this sort of thing.... Just jump to the last paragraph if u dont want to hear the story.

So last week i was about to bolt my motor and tranny together to drop it in, but decided to crack open my "good condtion" gsr tranny, just to make sure everything was cool. Half of it was missing. Def. missing every gear, bearing, synchro on the mainshaft, every single shift fork, all the reverse parts, numerous bearings, ect. ect. So needless to say i needed a tranny.

Drove down to VA (8 hrs round trip) to pick up the guts out of a gsr tranny and type r lsd with 25k on em from popinachubby. (he had cracked the housing) Checked it out, everything looked pretty straight in the sheets parking lot so i went on my merry way.

Got into rebuilding everything tonight in the gsr case i have and im pretty much screwed. 5 of the bolts that hold the ring gear on the diff are stipped as well as the threads inside the diff itself. 2 of the 4 screws that hold the diff together are stripped as well. What can be done about this? The screws are a precision fit with the ring gear. I have thus far spent about $1200 on getting a tranny together and i keep taking it up the ***...

You cab buy the tap for the holes. It is going to run you around 90 bucks being left-handed, fine thread, metric. I would have inspected things better?

Unless I missed something somewhere, I am pretty sure the ITR lsd has left hand threads.

well on the hole that the threads are stilll good and the good bolt, you turn it right to tighten it.... I have a rethreading kit (the damage is way to bad for that) but it has a 10X1.5 thread in it, which doesnt work (pitch is off), so its got to be 10X something

Somebody (obviously) has been messing with those threads. The ITR diff has reverse ring gear bolt threads just like all the other b-series differentials. Maybe the person who worked on it last didn't know that...

I would absolutely take it to a machine shop -- they can work magic sometimes. Or get your money back, if you can.

Selling damaged parts is without telling the buyer is a lousy thing to do. Good luck with it.

im honestly about to give up. Im getting tired of doing this ****. Back over a year ago when i supposedly bought a complete swap that came with out alternator, axles, intermediate shaft, harness, ecu, misc. nuts and bolts, and that half of a tranny.
Then the turbo set up i got screwed on, with a bad turbo, wrong manfiold, leaking intercooler, and no oil lines.
Its starting to seem like i just cant have something like this. If the machine shop cant fix it, im thinking about taking offers:

95 sol
Painted and all body work done: suzuka blue
Cf hood
skunk2 coils with tokico struts
NHRA legal roll cage
B18c1 resleeved to 84mm
Arias 9:1 pisons
eagle rods
Action 2MD clutch
Stock head
Jg intake manfiold
rc 750
hondata s200 with boost and p28
Garrett t3 60-1 turbo
Downpipe with two bungs
Full race turbo mani jet coated black
Tial 40 mm also ject coated
HKS ssqv
Rev hard intercooler
I know i forgot alot but o well.

I'm sorry your having so many issues man, but just keep in there.

I'm having issues of my own, and get the feeling that I should just sell everything and cut my losses in attempt to feel better. Hell, I've gone through 2 distributors in attempt to cure a misfiring problem only too have end up being a fouled out set of plugs.

However, thats not going to happen. I did it once with my built ZC setup, and I have regreted it ever since.

Trust me, If you just stick in there, do what it takes to get the job done you will feel 100x better in the end. Not only will you be happy that you've created something great that you can enjoy, you can also be happy that you've over-come all those obsticles along the way.

Keep it up Buddy.

Just save up some more $, and get a different tranny from a reputable person.

keep smart about when to give up and when to keep going. have in mind that most people in this forum will say to keep going because they have, and the ones that have sold off their stuff dont post here anymore.

their is a point where its a waiste of time and money and sometimes if you dont have things going your way, then its definetly waisting your time and money.

dont give up, never a good way out. I sunk 2 sleeves in my dart sleeved block after only 1,500 miles.

I was going to give up, but i look at it this way: If you give up, you will never know how fast that car could be. That was my main reason for sticking with it. Giving up never solves anything. It might feel right when you first do it, but after while, you will be kicking yourself in the ***.

I am in MD, I have talked to you before, and I might be able to get my hands on some gear sets and FD for you. Shout me a PM.

Slow down for a minute. Examine all the parts you have for your tranny and verify them and their condition. Make a list of what you need to get that tranny going. If all you need is a diff, contact earl on here for a quaife and be set. Let me know if you need tranny help.
