well im going to finish eating my spaghettios (sp??) then break out the helms and go through it all. thanks for all the help so far

That is solid advice. I would add that if you can't afford the quaife, ITR LSDs are easy enough to get hold of for much less money. I'd also be willing to lend any help I can, as I've gone through these transmissions before.
Go after that guy for a refund, too. Unless he was unaware of the damage himself...

alright well i just went through the whole tranny. Assembled the main and couter shafts, minus pressing the bearings on. (first time
) It seems like everything is there minus one snap ring and one synchro spring. 2nd gear has 4 or 5 chipped teeth, but i do have another good 2nd gear here.
I talked to the guy last night and he didnt seem to know there was anything wrong with it, but im still out a type r lsd from our deal. I cant ask for all of it back, but i think $100 at the least is due.
Thanks for all the help guys, its making me want to get this car done. As far as a new diff goes, i dont know what im gonna do. I figure i have 8 or 900 left, but that was also going to go to tunning the hondata. i plan on thowing down 350-400 hp and am worried about breaking a type r. comments?

you might not want to hear it, but an obx lsd might be a good option for you. somebody on the FI forum here is running high 10's on it i think, and he drives it on the street too.
earl recomended that you go through an obx diff though before instalation, and check torque on all the bolts, as it seems obx or the manufacturer doesnt pay much attention to that.

i was actually considering it. But i have yet to see one for a gsr trans. I figure the car is only going to get maybe 5,000 miles a year on it so it shouldnt be that bad.
just wanted to say thanks to popinachubby for being honest and trying to help me out with the bad diff. situation. Hopefully everything will be solved soon.
