Default losing oil, could it be PCV not hooked up?

thought about boosting this motor so I thought I'd start here in the FI forum.

just got my integra GSR running for about 3-4 weeks now. the car had a rod knock so I replaced the shortblock with a good running one. the guy who owned the car before me plugged off the PCV hose with a bolt and didn't have anything connected to the box on the back. I left it that way.

didn't really get into the motor too hard till yesterday. hit VTEC a couple times. then going home, tried it again and it feels likes it studders a little bit in VTEC. try it again and then the CEL comes on. get home, pull the code, DTC 22. ****, so I check the oil, no oil reading on the dip stick. WTF??!! I had to add 2 quarts to hit the middle of the 2 dots on the stick.

I'm gonna check for oil leaks today but you guys think it could be because the PCV system not being hooked up and oil spilling out? what else should I look for.

side note: when I first start it and let it warm up, it leaves a trail of black soit on the ground. not a lot, looks like just a streak. there's also a little puff of black/gray smoke when WOT, only happens right when I step on the gas pedal. it's not consistenly smoking.
