Default look inside...what size turbo is good

Right now i have a dohc zc with a 15g greddy kit. I was going to upgrade to a 18g, but i think i wana go with an external wastegate setup. I want a turbo that has close to the same characteristics as the 15g and 18g but with more potential.i dont care what flange it is, because i plan on upgrading manifolds as well.I see so many posts about trim sizes,i get confused....thanks in advance
