Little intercooler question
I want to know how much power my intercooler can hold cause I want to raise the boost on my car. Two day at 10psi on my ls and I want more
My intercooler is a bar and plate with 19x7x3 core.

Re: Little intercooler question (integraturbo96)
Its not so much how much power your intercooler will 'hold' as it is, whether or not the air will cool enough so your motor doesn't over heat. With that size though you should be able to run like 12-15 psi...but I am just guess. Without knowing more about your motor, how its build, how much power your making, what turbo, we really can't help you

IATs have little to do with coolant temps and a lot to do with detonation.

Re: Little intercooler question (dpetro1)
the thickness of that core helps you a lot, but 7" tall and 19" wide is fairly small.
I'd say that IC would be good for maybe 325-350hp.
To be safe, I'd upgrade to something about 12" tall and 20"+ wide Gives you a good cross section without being too big that it'll induce a massive pressure drop.
FYI, I don't know how many of you honda guys do this, but I always run hot side piping at least .25" smaller than cold side, so that the the larger piping helps create a scavenging effect thru the intercooler.

Since you're going to need a retune to run more boost anyway, you can have your tuner log your IATs in order to check whether or not the higher boost is safe for your setup.
