A Little Confused
Ok i really want to put a turbo in my 99 lude but i keep hearin that people blow bearings and ringlands in the h22's. what can i do to avoid this???? I will be building my motor with pistons, rods and sleeves...is there anything else I need? i want this done right and i dont feel like rebuilding my motor every 20,000 miles. And that brings me to my next question...if you go turbo do you have to rebuild your motor every ohhh i dont know say 60,000 miles..just out of the blue..
i want some real horsepower so i was thinkin somewhere around 350+..what turbo setup is good for this?
and if theres anything else that you guys feel is important...LET ME KNOW PLEASE!!
Thanks.

Here let me just say this. The year of the motor doesnt really mean aything when it comes down to the problem with the ringland. What happens is the stock pistons arent able to handle the increased heat stress put on them and most of the time will crack due to bad fuel tuning. Since you are planning on a forged piston this shouldnt be an issue although it still happens on a rare occasion. Now plan on refreshing the motor every 20,000 miles or less depending on how hard you drive with new rings and possibly bearings. The boost decreases the motor life by alot.
