Default A little blow-by?

Recently when I pop my hood after a long drive and watch the motor for a little bit I can see a little smoke coming out of the breather. You don't notice at first glance but when you look at the right angle you can see a little trickle of smoke coming out. I'm worried about it because my last motor went due to rings and I don't want it to happen again. This motor only has 10K on it and has been run with a catch-can for a while now too. Anyone else have a similar situation that hasn't been a problem so far? TIA

Have you done a compression test?

Wet:
140 130 135 135

My C/r should be like 8.4:1, what do you think?

those numbers are pretty low but consistant. did you do the test with the throttle wide open?

is it a built motor with forged pistons or stock pistons?

was the motor hot when you did that too. Vitara pistons are very loose so they will provide better compression when at full temperature. Also how many times did you crank it. Those numbers don't sound too low, but they are low

most likely its blow by.....when i had blow by it was coming out the breather.....but then again my dip stick blew out the hole...and oil was leaking from the exhaust manifold...so...idk be careful...once its a little messed up...one rip and it could be done

Engine was hot, I run a catch can so no pcv, yeah it smokes from the breather with the engine running. Just a tiny bit of smoke though. Y7/Y8 comp numbers will be higher than straight y7 by a little bit. I was expecting in the 140 range. Not much I can do for it, I'm certainly not going to baby it. I'll just put another D in if this one goes.

If your pcv isn't attached to the IM, there is no vac to draw blow-by gasses out of the crankcase. Since every engine has a small amount of blow-by even at idle, with no vac to the crankcase, it's inevitable that you'll see a small amount of smoke out the breather.

You can asses the condition of your engine by timing how fast visible smoke appears out the breather. If this is happening after a minute or two of idling or after running the engine for a while, I would say it's perfectly normal.
