If the goal of Honda-tech is to "teach" gullible people false facts, then I guess you're right. I do ruin Honda-tech.

man im not saying you shouldn't help im saying be nice about it...he gave an opinion which was clear in the way he stated it then you jumped all over him...i have no problem with you correcting him or anyone else. but the way you did it was not respectable..i understand where you are coming from and i agree with you it just makes me mad when people treat others like you did especially a friend..and i admit i shouldn't have spouted the foul language i apologize to you for that.

LOL...look what I started..I wasn't talking about the flywheel being balanced Hybrid. I was talking about taking weight off of one side of the crank figuring that honda had a balance between the crank pulley and the flywheel but I wasn't sure and thats why I asked, but people who dont read the post before they reply a stupid answer like the flywheel itself being unbalanced need to pay more attention before posting.

I'm using an ACT 8lb prolite flywheel and didn't notice much of a difference from the stock flywheel . I don't notice the revs rising or falling faster at all.

And I never understood the whole "need more mass at launch" theory. Who can explain it?

It feels like my 60' improved when I installed the prolite flywheel.

I'm referring to a d-series by the way. I think they have lighter factory flywheels.

I decided to go with the 8lb because a lot of people with the 12lb wheels were saying they didn't notice a difference at all.

Are you using the stock flywheel? Mine was 13.5lbs and I was content on the speed of the acceleration.

i am using a comptech 9lb flywheel, with act clutch, and pressure plate and it is great! i love it, i choose 9lb so my revs don't drop to low inbetween shift and what not

I've got a y8 too. People who say it falls out of boost during shifts must be retarded. I don't see that being physically possible. If anything, the RPMs don't fall fast enough - the tranny still has to snap the engine down to the RPM that matches the next gear.

Really, what it boils down to is this - I can't find a single negative consequence of my 8lb flywheel. I'm going to be shooting for 11's with this flywheel installed.

My only warning is this - while I don't notice the RPMs rise/fall faster when I'm driving or revving the engine, they still change RPM faster under different load conditions. What I mean is this - when you let out the clutch in first, you have to give a lot more gas to keep from stalling. The lighter mass of the flywheel means it's a lot more finicky once the clutch engages. If you give too much gas, you do a burn out (which gets really old really fast) and if you don't give enough gas, you stall. You basically have to be a better driver. Don't worry though, after about a week of driving you should have it down. But at the track, you need to know exactly what RPM to launch at for optimal take-off without excessive wheel-spin.

Also, I can see how mis-shifting can be more dangerous with the light flywheel. A mis-shift with my 8lb flywheel will probably spin my engine at least 300 RPMs higher than it would with a stock flywheel. That extra 300 RPMs might be the difference between driving home from the track and being towed home.

thanks..i use full throttle shift in crome so im not worried about falling out of boost and my turbo is pretty small anyways so its gotta go a good ways to fall out of boost...
