Kind of turbo kit to get
So my buddy showed me this turbo kit. But im not sure on what kind of turbo to get for me setup.
Any suggestions will totally help and advices with. Not looking to spend to much on a turbo kit just enought to make some power for now.
Got a Stock Gsr head with Itr valve springs, Block is Sleeved B16A2. GE sleeves, JE 10.5:1 pistons, Crower Rods, GE headstuds, new water pump/oil pump, new front and rear seals.
My power goal is 300+ If I can make more then it will be even better. This is going to be my first turbo car. Was always an all motor guy so trying something different now. Also the car will be tuned on E85 and be my DD.
What do you guys think of this Kit Got any other kits then post em up or pm me.

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
Thats the Ebay Cractastico Turbo Kit Son! That seller couldnt pay me 800 dollars to put that on my car! seriously if he gave me 800 to put that on my car i would refuse. now obviously i could put that on my car and then take it right off afterwards and i would have made 800 dollars but knowing that i put myself down to that level of unsat turbo parts on my del sol, well it would just never happen! it wouldnt happen... i would rather have 150 horsepower from an all motor b series setup than to deal with that piece of crap turbo kit... on top of that knowing that i would be able to start my car when i wake up in the morning because i didnt have that horrible turbo kit on my car would also make me feel better...
dont stoop that low

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
lol Thanks bro. Kinda figured it was a Egay turbo kit just by looking at the turbo.
But what do you think is best for me to get for this setup im going with? Ive been doing my research but everyones got their own opinions on things and its confusing me. Is it best for me to piece my turbo kit by myself as in like getting everything piece my piece or am i better off buying a full turbo kit? i want something name brand that isnt to much but will do me good, last me, and be worth my money and what im building or putting together. Also what size of a turbo should i get. was aiming for a t3t4 57 trim or a 60 trim.

for a budget under 1500 it depends if you have a fuel managment system yet, if you do, you should pick up a decent manifold, like edelbrock makes a log style manifold that looks similar to the inline pro, and its decently priced at 250$, then pick up a precision journal bearing turbo for 600$ on ebay, ebay intercooler and piping kit with bov for 200$ then with the 500$ you have left you will need to bargain shop for a wastegate, injectors, and boost controller, plus the tune, so either way your looking at at least 2 grand for a decent put together kit with new parts, if all this sounds like to much, just spend the 500 bucks on an ebay kit, and go ahead and order a extra manifold and turbo for when they fail

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
so i should really just piece the turbo kit then buying a full kit? i mean i dont mind some parts off ebay, but parts are okay to use off ebay? forsure i dont want a turbo from there or manifold.

you can find tons of journal bearing precision turbos on ebay for around 599$ its ok to buy good parts from ebay, but i wouldnt use cheap ebay turbos or manifolds, everything else people have mixed opinions on, intercoolers and piping is fine from ebay, people have mixed feelings on the ebay wastegates and bovs.

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
dont bash ebay. cause ebay dont make t-kits. but yes you would want to stay away from them cause alot of people with different no name brand kits from ebay always have run into trouble.
dp dont fit correctly.
those "SS" mani crack over time.
sometimes the wastegate stays open. thats not good.
turbo giving out quickly.
you get the idea, not high quality material. but im not going to lie to you. there are some good batches out there. my cousins running a kit from ebay for 600$ and its still running today after 6 months of dailying/racing. has ~300hp on a stock b20vtec setup. the shaft in the turbo is still fine.
all in all, im posting here cause i have a great kit for your needs in my sig.

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
I might order the edelbrock manifold. sometime next week.
And a question what does the A/R stand for for the turbo?? Cause i see that every turbo got a different number.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Kind of turbo kit to get
a/r = area over radius compressor turbine to charge pipe IIRC. It's the ratio of compressed air to blown air.
Log manifold ~$200
quality used turbo ~$400
Injectors ~$200 used (good luck)
Intercooler, BOV and charge pipes ~$200 ebay
Chipped OBD1 ecu ~$150
Oil lines, clamps, gaskets, extra necessary hardware ~$100
WAlbro 255 lph ~$90
Tial wastegate ~$150
Downpipe ~$200
Tune ~6 pack of beer to a friend maybe....?
Over budget, not by much, and most of those quotes are insanely cheap... you just have to search for good deals, but whatever you do, make sure you're buying quality stuff. Do it once, do it right
Edit:
Forgot to add to the a/r answer... larger a/r compresses more air and flows more, and has more lag than smaller a/r.
