They are different types of chargers, the Lysholm is actually a compressor that compresses the air internally, while the Eaton is a Roots blower, which is more like a fan, blowing more air into the manifold. The Lysholm is more efficient on boost, but drags the motor more off-boost, although it will go to 30 PSI. It is expensive to manufacture/license though, and costs a lot more than a Roots.

That isn't the real issue though, it's really about the direction of rotation of the blower. Only a few positive displacement blowers spin CCW, and they are too small to make much over 300 WHP, which is a big limitation for a B-series. With a motor that spins CW like a K-series, I can pick from a lot larger range of superchargers. Fords and Chevys have been using Roots blowers for a long time from the factory, and there is a lot more support out there for them. Given the amount of air that a Honda motor can move, a larger blower that might go on a V-6 or V-8 can be perfect for our applications.

Also found this on their site while you were posting.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Actually, the real reason is that our systems are engineered to outperform the competition in every way possible. You will have more usable low-rpm, mid-rpm, and high-rpm power than with any other supercharger. Roots charges will make less power everywhere! Centrifugal chargers might make a few % more power at redline, but the usable power under the curve (what really accelerates the car) will be higher on the RedShift Twin-Screw Superchargers.</TD></TR></TABLE>

RedShift Stage 1 non-intercooled (6 psi, 250 whp) - $3,895 (includes Hondata reflash)

That price seems doable. I suppose you could step up on each stage, when funds allowed?

Can't find any pictures of the kit,,,

It looks like the kit is still in development though, the shipping date is TBD.

I called them and left my number, waiting to see if they get back to me. If they'll sell me a manifold then I'll think about it, as long as I can intercool it. A 2300AX would be a hell of a badass blower to put on this motor, although the M90 with rotor coating and a custom case will only run me about $1K.

From what I read in their 'New Product Development' forum it seems they are still in development on the manifold runners and casting obviously won't take place until all testing has been done to assure minimal failure percentages.

Looks interesting. Thanks for the heads up on them.

Any pics of this Lysholm twin screw S/C? From anywhere?

interesting build! i like how you haven't done just typical stuff to the car. it seems like you actually think about how you want the car to act, and get the proper parts to make it do so.

have you noticed a difference in getting your rotors cyro'd?

does a VW 1.8t go CW?

have you thought about dual charging this one?

what blower comes on the lighnings and cobra's

how would the Big Kenne Belle blower do on something like this?

how can you get a theoretical estimate of power without actually doing it can you tell what X blowers would do to make X power on X motor?

i've wondered why no one has yet to put a big roots blower on a 4 cyl

I have no idea.

I'd rather just do a big SC, less complicated.

Eaton M112

Kenne Belle uses Autorotor brand Lysholm compressors; it would work well, but it's very expensive because those are some of the nicest blowers that you can buy.

You could do the math for pounds/minute of air and multiply the result by 10, but that would would be a very rough estimate, not really taking efficiency or a lot of other factors into account, although I guess you could plot the motor on the compressor map to get efficiency. I'll have to try it some time for one of my old setups that I have all of the data for.

Because Honda motors move a freakish amount of air for their displacement due to their volumetric efficiency and high RPM capability. Plus B-series motors spin the wrong way.

I had to be in Portland, OR, this week for some meetings, so I flew in a day early to visit the guy who makes the custom M90 housings. I ended up hanging out with him and his friends while they grilled some chicken and had a beer. I brought an M90 with me and he opened it up and reassembled it with a new case, bearings, and seal while I was there. Here are some pictures of the finished blower (I decided to skip the rotor coating, as it's probably not worth the hassle and expense of getting it done):

Blower with new case:

Note the huge exit port:

Here's the inlet port, it is at least twice the size of a stock inlet port. This is huge:

And the back side, this is a completely different casting from the Eaton castings:

couldn't you get a rotor assembly from a 97+ gtp which already has the coating??i heard the lkq off of 70 has one..

I talked to Charles (the guy who makes the cases) about it, but he wasn't optimistic about the OEM coating lasting very long if I spin the blower to 20K RPM, which is the design maximum for this blower. He said Embree has a special coating that they use that may be better, but that the gains aren't necessarily that much over an uncoated blower with the proper clearances. After I get the whole thing mocked up I may send the rotor pack to Embree while I'm waiting on my other stuff (block sleeving, custom rods/pistons).
