Default K&N Filter life when directly on a compressor?

I've been running with a K&N Filter directly on my compressor for a few months, everything is going well.

I checked the archives, and couldn't find any useful information. Does the heat from the compressor, that the filter is now exposed to directly, have any effects on the normal life of the filter? K&N recommends the re-charge kit, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this directly. The filter seems fine, I'm just wondering.

TIA

depending on the temp of the compressor, you might see the rubber that is clamped on to it crack and fail over time

i did.

solution was to make the filter neck as short as possible so it would bounce and wobble less. been fine since

im thinking of doing an extension to a 90 degree and have the filter off of that.
