Just took apart my motor for the first time
Wow, it was fun.....except for those cut up knuckles.
Anywho, it was all pretty easy with the impact gun. I got it down to bare block and head. I just hope my friend knows where all those billions of nuts and bolts go back, cuz I sure don't. Heheh.
Anyone know how to disconnect the rod from the piston?
My parents are gonna kill me. There's oil and coolant all over the garage, and they have to park outside in the snow.

Yup, the head bolts I did by hand. I just did the real tight ones by impact gun (tranny bolts, crank bolt, etc).
And I labelled like 5 out of the billion nuts and bolts that I took out. Hah. My friend said that he knows where they all go. There are literally like 300 little pieces, at least.

Hey, when I took out my "crank brackets" to get the crank out, there was a terrible smell like rotten eggs. It was so strong, I had to walk away for a second. What is that? Burnt oil? Something else?
EDIT: By "crank brackets" I mean the 4 brackets in the lower right of the picture above.

umm why is your crank laying on it's side? It's better to stand them straight up, they can warp if laid on thier side, although not by much..........just my .02 take it or leave it
