Default JUST REBUIlt..HELP!!!!

Hey..i just got my motor back after getting the bottom end overbored and new pistons and had my head checked and had a valve job done. The problem is...i just got everything back in the car and when i start it, idle sounds like **** and car wont stay on when its cold unless i keep giving it gas. My vafc shows taht the manifold pressure is almost all the way up also. My car overheats everytime i'm stuck at a traffic light and my car warms up in like 1-2mins after its been sitting all night. Can anyone help?

All I can think of is your settings still set the same previous to the rebuild or 2) poor rebuild job. Good luck man and did you have a blockguard put in?

Poor rebuild job? Umm..k. This is my 3rd time doing a rebuild. 2nd time on my motor and i helped a friend. I know how to rebuild. I was just curious on if a sensor or wut not could be fucked. My ecu is giving off a code 71 and 73 (misfire is cylinder 1 and 3). What could be causing this? Could my injectors be messed up? or my ignition?

btw...my turbo is not on the car.

yes. and yes.

most likely ignition, due to the codes. stuff like this ain't easy to diagnose on a forum, unless you give us lots more info.

Chill dude just a suggestion not saying you didn't rebuild it good and didn't know it was yourself who did the rebuild. As far as your codes go I had the same **** and my issues involved cap and rotor needing replacement as well as plug gapping. Good luck,

Nick

You tried new spark plugs by any chance? Or maybe make sure your plug wires are all going to the right plug?

Heh, check that you did not reverse spark plug wires 1&3 on the distributor.

If that checks out, compression & leakdown test... you're low on compression and misfiring.

Hmm, now when you say it warms up in like 1-2 mins, is that faster than normal or slower than normal? It's possible your head gasket isn't on right, that could explain the overheating...
Might also want to check that there isn't any air in your coolant system.. run with the radiator cap off for two iterations of the fan turning off and on (provided it doesn't overheat)...

Boosted I had all 4 codes thrown being 71-74 but that was due to me messing with the characteristics of the greddy setup in use with the blue box.( Fuel was basically out of wack) running 10:5.1 on the wideband o2. Reason I said rebuild with the blockguard and you already probably know this that the waterjackets weren't all that well lined up or passages being to small. Wish I could help you more man.
