Default Just had my first post-turbo scare .. kinda long

well, the muffler shop was busy so i couldn't get my dp connected to my exhaust until monday. of course, being the paranoidal person i am, i wanted to make sure that i didn't have leaks of any kind before i went to the muffler shop early monday morning and then straight to work.

i drove around the neighborhood open dp not revving past 5k for about 10 mins, let the car cool a little, put cardboard under the car, and went inside the house. i came back out 10 mins later and i found oil dripping out of my downpipe!! there was a little puddle on the cardboard where the downpipe flange was located and from a side angle, it looked like oil was dripping out of the downpipe opening - at this point, my heart practically stopped beating and i immediately wished i was back to stock

i pulled the plugs and the next moments were the longest of my life. plugs still looked like they just came out of the package because i only drove like 2 miles after i put them in so i couldn't tell crap from them. i proceeded to do the compression test of death and to my amazment, i got equal numbers across the board.

i started looking around the firewall where my oil feed line was tee'd for my oil pressure sensor and , the damn -an line was loose as hell. the good thing was this wasn't the line that came with the DRAG kit but the one i bought a couple of weeks ago at a shop. at this point i was praying that the feed line was the source of my oil leak.

i jacked the car up, stuck my hand inside the dp and it was dry! then i looked up and saw oil everywhere, leaking onto the dp. i found the tee and it was right above the dp! at that point, i think i started breathing again

i ripped that line out, re-routed the oil feed line, started up the car and drove around a bit. i came back 5 mins later and put cardboard under the car again and waited 10 mins. looked under and found oil dripping, but not from where the dp opening was but probably from when i took out the filter and oil squirted everywhere

man, what a day.

not sure I fully understood that, but it sounded to me like a (relatively) happy ending

haha cool ... i gotta get the kinks worked out first ... car is running weird and i haven't even pushed it yet. i hear some backfiring and today when i drove home, i heard a slight "pinging" sound but i couldn't make out if it was from the engine, tranny, fan, etc. i never heard detonation before so i'm not sure what it sounds like in person
