Just got bottle refilled and....
Hey guys, I just got my nitrous bottle refilled and its in the 50's outside and my pressure gauge is showing only 600 psi? Is that normal or they didnt fill the bottle all the way up. Its a 10lbs bottle... does anybody know what it should weight empty? I'm just worried that the shop that i go to puts about 5lbs in there and charges for 10!!! Please help!

Re: (ZexyAccord)
Pressure will vary with temperature. If its cold the pressure will drop dramatically. At room temp(about 75 degrees) a full 10lb. bottle should be around 1400-1600PSI.

Re: (DaX)
When they fill nitrous bottles they put them in the freezer, so the nitrous will actually transfer over. Without a heater it takes a while for them to get back up to pressure. And all bottles have the empty, nitrous, and tank + nitrous weights listed on them, they have to.

easy guys......
bottle pressure isnt a direct relation to how full a bottle is, notice i said isnt a DIRECT, yes it has somthing to do with it but not everything when it comes to pressure.
true alot of shops freeze the bottle so that it causes a negative pressure in the bottle so that when hooked up to the main feed, it will actually suck the nitrous from the main filling bottle. they do this so that it is easier on thier filling pump, takes alot less time and is SAFER for them.
after that nitrous pumps for like 5 minutes on a bottle, go feel the bottle, its HOT as hell because the pump is compressing the gas into the bottle causing friction and hence heat.
after filling a bottle is a great time to use it because the bottle pressure is high!
600psi is too low, especially if you have tuned for 900-1000psi on the bottle, at 600psi the mix is different and nozzle pressures are decreased, thus not mixing as well and as solid as higher pressures.
on the bottle it should have an empty and full weight, go weigh it on the scale in the house
