Re: Jun Villaruz's 62mm 10 Second D16 Project Progress
Thanks Buddy!
So anyway, the civic is back in the garage and have started taking it apart with the plan of installing the new suspension.
I am currently dealing with seized rear toe bolts on trailing arms, and there's no way to access the inside thread without cutting the chassis, and so i did what i had to do to save the shell.
I've managed to loosen the rusted bolt, but ran into another issue with it seized to the bushings. I've about lost all my patience at this point and had to step away before i do something I'd regret later on. "Damn old hondas" I've removed the old suspension and the LCA are still bent from last time. Hah!
There's a little play on the rack an pinion and didn't feel like taking my chances at 140+mph so i went ahead and changed that as well...
Went to grab the rest of the fuel line fittings and solid shifter bushings at one6motorsports a local shop in my area. The black banjo fitting replaces the stock banjo then connects to a -6an line that runs back to the fuel lab in-line filter. I am debating if i should delete the tank and 450 pump and just run a 2 gallon fuel cell in the front to save some more weight.
The integra threw a cyl#1 misfire code which turned out to be a bad spark plug grommet causing the plugs to get soaked with oil and misfires. The car ran smooth and the code went away after installing oem vc gaskets.
Went with 6k LED head light bulb.
Fresh S300 v3 p28 and Je proseal head gasket.
Melvin ports d16z6 oil pump I'm double checking the clearance.
ed my pops with a new car yesterday it temporarily left him in shock and couldn't stop smiling once he sat on the driver seat.

The block is getting ready to be assembled now that the 11mm head studs have been time serted.
I have my eyes on cartek sequential shift light and might be worth the $150 since my cluster is basically useless at night when i race.
The next plan is to bring the block to Melvin in Ohio so we can check the P2V clearance as well as degree the cam. I might be getting a set of either 13x9 welds or belak wheels this weekend, we shall see.

If you havent bought that shift light yet I would recommend checking out the ShiftP2. I havent read up on the Cartek so I cant speak too much on it but the ShiftP2 does have a digital display and is fully programmable, the LEDs have a ton of different colors and flashing options and also a battery level readout. Here is the site. Also remember they are located in Australia so their pricing is in Australian dollars which comes out to a bit less when converted to US. $225 AUD comes out to about $170 USD.

I got a video on my build thread of me installing and messing with it

Anyway, here's some updates on the build. I got impatient with piecing together my fuel stuff, so i said to hell with it and bought a complete kit from friends at one6motorsports in ELk Grove, IL. This kit consist deatschwerks FF70 fuel filter, -6an braided fuel feedline, -6an banjo fitting for the fuel pump pick up, -6 fittings back to aem fuel rail.
Fuel lab kit was sold to SFWD page in facebook.
The new plug and play inline fuel kit.
Engine bay prep work and had a crazy idea of painting it with vinyl paint to give it that flat textured look.
I have replaced both trailing arms and fixed all the rusted area then installed the new rear suspension.
Now to the fun part. I GOT THE BLOCK BACK! I could still go 2mm bigger based on the look of those sleeves.
Sold the 13x7 Lenso's and went with 13x9 wheels this way my my 24.5x9 slicks sits completely flat to the surface = more traction = better 60ft and 1/8 mile.
My Integra looks great as a drag car. Yep, can you read my mind? Hah!
Things are starting to get busy with this rebuild so i shall update again soon.

Damn those are some beefy sleeves man. Looking forward to see what your plans are for the integra, hope to see some of those crazy reaction times at the strip soon. Btw, any tips on getting that quick of a reaction off the line?

Re: Jun Villaruz's 62mm 10 Second D16 Project Progress
Thanks guys and yes they are 13x9 vms wheels with M/t 24.5x9x13..
So here's some updates on the build and have decided to ditch the -6 fuel feed and went with -8 and -6 return. Upon looking at the lines, I've realized that -6 is barely bigger than stock and it doesn't make sense to even upgrade unless i go bigger. I know i need some room just in case i decide to build a b-series in the future.
Minor mods on the fuel pump hanger and will be needing a bit of welding to fit the -6an fitting for the return line.
Now let's move on to the D2b plateless process and here's the comp d2b flywheel bolt in to the block.
Here's the Gsr bellhousing welded and filled up waiting to be drilled and retapped.
Two of the top transmission bolts fits with a little work, and the other two side area needed to be filled, drilled and retapped. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures, but you get the point.
And here they are filled.
The front area of the block needs a little work as pictures shown below.
The bellhousing bolted into the block.
The next step is to drill and retapped the housing then make the bracket for intermediate shaft. I would to thank my buddy Scott B. for jumping on board and helping me with this conversion, none of this will be possible without his help.
I will update again later...

Here's the complete product with the intermediate shaft adapter and post mount spacers. Scott definitely snapped on this conversion and i can't thank him enough for making this happen. :TU:
We had to drill the head to fit the bigger 11mm head studs.
Melvin Ports working his magic on the degree wheel.

Anyway, I've thought about buying a drag wing, but's it's around $300 or $175 for a street wing. I was feeling a little creative and started measuring things and used a card board for mock ups. This project cost me about $70 dollars in materials and what not.
060 aluminum sheet
I used a beer bottle and Asian strength to bend the wing in shape. "Didn't take a whole lot of effort"
Some rivet action!
I still can't decide how i want to do my brackets but I'll figure that out tomorrow.
Also fixed the broken wheel stud and welded some extended arp studs in place.
Welded a custom throttle body bracket underneath the manifold for a cleaner look.
GSR with LS 5th for street use.
Had to cut and drill another hole so i could have functional trunk and extra space instead of riveting it to the rear bumper.
And here is the finished homemade drag wing. It's super sturdy!
Now let's move on to the D2b process and I have finally got everything bolted together. Here is the pressure plate i used a blue loctite and torque it to 25lbs as per comp specs.
I did swap to LS 5th to keep the rpm lower at cruise and to those who are curious, Gsr 5th is 26 teeth and LS is 25
Here is the Gsr trans bolted to the block.

And yet another last minute changes and figured the motor needs to be vented a little better specially at high boost pressure. So with that said, i sold the old catch can + valve cover and ordered these.
Bigger catch can.
-10an 90* swivel fittings from vc to catch can.
-10 straight fitting from catch can to the block.
And last but no the least, the expensive $35 dollar block plug.
Checked both bolt and post mount thread lenght to make sure i have good connection, and to prevent stripping the threads.
Water pipe oring was pretty loose so i went ahead and replaced both for a peace of mind.
The fuel regulator wouldn't clear the manifold so i had to use a golden eagle 90 degree adapter to make it work.
Unboxing the bosch 2200cc and top hats from Jeff at hi-profile.
I also ditched the 70mm and went with S90 74mm throttle body.
My Buddy Phil came by with the hoist and we swapped the motor.
Everything went smooth and it probably only took us 30 mins to drop the motor.
I ran out of time and had to go back to work so i will update again tomorrow.

Re: Jun Villaruz's 62mm 10 Second D16 Project Progress
Here's some of the behind the scenes from my garage.
The dual vented baffled catch can with a custom Philippines flag. "Gotta Rep my country"
Replaced the old oil feed lines and upgraded to mishimoto sandwich plate.
I used a card board and cut as needed to properly mark the up pipes.
You get the point.
Had to test my creative side.
I don't know what it is with me and card boards, but it works...
The precut 040 aluminum hood exit template.
The template riveted in place.
Up-pipes cut in an angle to give it that tear drop look.
With the spoon strut bar installed.
And i was washing the plates when i notice the food strainer. Long story short, i end up cutting it and with a 4" turbo clamp i had sitting it became a turbo mesh screen. I do plan on taking it off at the track and is mostly there for street protection and added a turbo blanket. "Hopefully nobody comes around looking for it"
Had to make a custom decals so check me out on facebook and youtube under chillin racing.
Installed an Aerocatch hood pins.
The finished front end.
Got to hang out with Kyle from 1320 he was doing coverage for a no prep event called KINGS OF STREETS one of the biggest racing event in the Midwest.
The plan is to get an alignment in the morning, rewire the vtec, bleed the brakes, adjust the e-brake. The car is so much more responsive than the previous set-up, and the twin disc is definitely a different animal, not to mention the gsr gearing which is tons of fun. She will be making numbers very soon! Hopefully there's no major issues at the dyno. Fingers crossed!

The car almost broke to 600s today spinning up top so we couldn't get a clean reading, and it was getting late so we called it a day. There's barely any timing on the map and we still have a bit more room to grow...

Re: Jun Villaruz's 62mm 10 Second D16 Project Progress
So here's a few things that went down last week, i was beating on the car on the way home from the dyno and noticed that the car was pushing coolant so i took the head off to get o-ringed. "I guess 11cr motor + 29lbs of boost doesn't really like each other"
Took the head off Saturday morning and was still hoping to make the event Sunday Morning.
The Culprit
I also noticed that cylinder #3 runs hotter than rest so i added 2% fuel just on that cylinder using fuel trim at the parameter settings.
Here's the head with stainless o-ring.
Cleaned up the surface of the block and pistons before re-installing the head. I torque the 11mm to 85lbs this time...
Got everything up and running 6pm Saturday, but had to leave for work until morning. The struggle is real....
Sunday morning race prep.
New look for 2017
Long story short, the car was hooking and was able cut 1.5 60ft on the first pass, but the map sensor connector came loose power shifting to 2nd, and shut off the car half way down the 1/4 mile. "There goes my first qualifying" I then broke an axle on the 2nd pass, so that basically ended my event. Bummer! I fixed the axle and tried to easy it out the hole and guiding it through the gears, basically falling out of boost 2nd and 3rd and still trapping 135+mph with ease. I spent about an hour cleaning up the tune and transitions on fuel tables and what not based on the data logs, and moved the limiter from 8400 to 9k then the vtec engagement from 5000 to 5500 and added 1 degree of timing from vtec to 9k. These changes basically woke up the car and ran 11.0 @127mph on wastegate almost whooping my buddy's 700hp Gsr coupe, he caught me on the top end by a nose.
I had to stop running the car as the trans is locking me out of first and grinds on 2nd. I took it all apart and turns out the 1st and 2nd syncrhos and slider are bad, so i replaced the whole countershaft.
I haven't really gotten a clean pass on the car yet, but i think this car will be in the 10.50s the next time out. Until next time!

Well, It looks like photobucket is being a knucklehead again and won't load the picture unless i update my account. Anyway, the car broke to 600s today and ended up maxing out the walbro 450 in tank pump. I will post a video of the car in the dyno when i finish uploading it.
