Default JRSC timing difference?

Anybody here have a jrsc?
My sc'ed d15y7 isn't terribly fast right now. I have a liquid intercooler waiting to be installed so that I can get closer to stock timing. Right now the timing is set to the farthest rate of retard it can go. My question is, did any of you jrsc guys notice a huge difference from the jr suggested timing (massive retard) to near stock?

I ran 13.9@101mph with the stock GSR kit and timing retarded to 8 degrees.

If you want full timing, you still need something to retard under boost and you end up at basically the same place when WOT.

It's only off-boost performance that gets better with stock timing.

BTW: Use a timing light! You could have retarded timing to ZERO!
