JRSC on Integra RS with AEM EMS versus Hondata
I am putting the final touches on my JRSC project. I have the JRSC kit and Apexi VAFC. But the more I read, the more I want to go with a stand alone management system.
I have looked at my options, but due to my location, tuning is going to be somewhat difficult. There are no tuners within a couple hundred miles and that leaves out most options. So what I have decided to do is self tune with an Innovate LM1 wideband (which I already have) and self program the AEM EMS.
I have decided to go with the AEM EMS so that I can set my own fuel maps. But I now I have some other questions.
1) Am I correct that the Apexi VAFC is no longer necessary?
2) What components will I no longer need from the JRSC kit? FMU?
Thoughts or comments more than welcome.

That's good to know. The JRSC comes with a lot of add-ons that are used to richen up the fuel.
In paragraph 100. of the installation.
"You will now be modifying the T/A sensor wiring. You will be connecting the Fuel Enrichment Relay to the T/A circuit. ......"
I take it the Fuel Enrichment Relay also won't be needed.
Is there anything else that won't be needed?
Seems like the AEM EMS will simply a lot of the tuning process.

Right... You won't want to do any of the fuel hacks. No coolant or IAT sensor hacks. Just let the AEM do the work.
Although.... You might want to consider Hondata or the like instead. They're a lot easier to get going yourself if you don't already have a lot of tuning experience.

Re: JRSC on Integra RS with AEM EMS (MarkC)
I have been pricing the Hondata as well. For everything it would be a couple of hundred less than the AEM.
Yes, I am new at this, but no means mechanically or electronically new, just at the engine management thing.
From what I have been reading, it looks like the AEM is a bit more straight forward by completely replacing the factory ECU. Where as the Hondata looks to be piggy backing an OBD1 ECU.
What in the Hondata will make it easier versus the AEM?
Thanks for the help!

Cool. If found a sponsor here that has them for $1195. That puts it right in the range of Hondata.

Hondata you need to burn chips take them in and out and buy all that bs to tune, that half the time goes bad. All you need with AEM is the AEM EMS and Wb, One wire connects to the laptop and you maps are as easy as F2 to save,IAT correction, boost controller, and the 2-step is so easy to use! Hondata IMO looks like a some guy in their backyard made it, but yea I know it does the job.
EDIT: On top of that you they always have new updates and new versions you can d/l for free off their site

You must have been reading my mind. It sort of looks that Hondata is somewhat stuck in the past with the design they have since it relies on the stock OBD1 ECU to do it's thing. Since I am going to be doing my own wideband and mapping, it looks like it's a whole lot more practical to make changes at will versus having to burn chips and install. Thanks for the info.

When I owned an AEM car, sort of I took a friends basemap and modified it to my needs. The timing was basically spot on, I only added in a few degrees more timing because I was @ lower compression, and adjusted the fuel. Very easy to use.

I've never had any problems with my Hondata and the tune is right on. As long as you take it to a competent tuner and dyno-tune it, that is the only way it will work right.
As for the AEM, it's fairly new to me and Hondata has never given me any trouble on customer service and support.
I'll still rock my Hondata

What type of wide band are you using? Are you datalogging the a/f?
