JRSC boost upgrade?
How do you up the boost past 8 on a jrsc for a b18c1? I heard you can put the crv crank pulley on for 10 psi but is that just the crv crank pulley and the stock 6 psi pulley? or is it the crank pulley plus another pulley? And how do you get more boost than 10? like 11 or 12.

Re: JRSC boost upgrade? (HNDAPWR)
a shop called "motorvations motorsports" makes an alternator pulley that raises your boost. its also commonly referred to as the "MVM pulley". contact jim if you're interested: boostmaster4@msn.com or call him at the shop: (205) 661-3600
i have one ordered for myself and will be installing it very soon.

Re: JRSC boost upgrade? (suprchrg95)
On 99-00 Si's I've heard of the CRV crank pulley over or underdriving the alternator. I can't remember which but their are safer and simpler ways to up the boost. the MVM stepper pulley was made so you don't have to use the CRV pulley or have to remove the pulley on the blower nose. I believe the CRV pulley will put you way past 10psi, more like 12psi. With more boost comes more heat. Hopefully you will have enough fuel too. I would contact jim at motorvation motorsports he is more than willing to explain the advantages of stepper pulleys.

It's a simple concept, and one of the easiest ways to increase the boost on a jrsc, but the problem is that in overdriving your blower, you also overdrive the rest of your components.
Basically depending on your setup, you could see anywhere from a 2-4psi increase using the smallest of the OEM pulleys for the CRV.
Do a search for "OEM crank pulley sizes" as there was a good thread a little while back that tells you the diameter of the various pulleys. Larger diameter than you're currently using will be less boost, and a smaller pulley will equal more boost.

actually you have that backwards: a larger crank pulley will equal more boost. but yes, there was a good thread on it awhile back.

You can also try looking this up on HostBoard.com and look under the Forced Induction Imports section, I have found so much info about JRSC's there and yes the CRV pulley according to what I found on the web site, with the stock 6psi pulley, will put you up to about 9.5 to 10 psi on your B18C1.
I currently have a brand new CRV pulley that I just need to put on to do this upgrade...but still deciding on whether to upgrade to RC 440's from my current RC370's..... and get my Hondata re-tuned for 10 psi...

Like someone said, a stepper pulley, which goes on the alternator. I have a 4 pulley that gives me 9lbs. The stock one is 4.2 which is 6lbs. The stepper pulley alows the SC to spin faster, but the alternator drive to remain the same. It will yield a 2-3psi increase. I am getting mine from endyne. Mine is on a b16, but the yield of increase should be the same, as I believe you have a 3.8 pulley, right?

Re: JRSC boost upgrade? (civic2003)
how do you go about getting the alternator pully off with the jackson racing installed? Do you have to go underneath the car and pull the axel or do you have to uninstall the wholecharger? Cause i like the stepper pully idea alot than the crank pully. Just seems like it would be a bitch to get the alternator out without pulling the charger off.

It's a bitch to do.
Even with my hoist, it still takes me about 25 minutes to re&re the alternator pulley. That's why I recommend doing the crank pulley. 5 minutes, and it's done.

Just wondering have you done the CRV crank pulley trick? If you have, how do you like it?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I've done it a couple of times in the past few weeks. I'm running a silly high CR small displacement setup that had a tendency to knock, so I picked up a bunch of old crank pulleys and tried different setups. On my current setup, I'm running the smallest of the DOHC pulleys, the P30 unit. I'm seeing 9.5psi on my guage, and 9.2psi from the dyno's MAP sensor.
I ran a smaller Unorthodox Racing crank underdrive pulley, and saw about 7psi on my guage. Conversely, when I ran the CRV pulley, I saw upwards of 13psi, which would have been great of I was running nitrous cooling, but I wasn't. GSR pulley gives me about 10psi.

I have a dyno vid that I could email you if you wanted.
I'm trying to upload it, but I'm teh stoopid when it comes to FTP.
Send me an email to hypa@shaw.ca with "jrsc dyno vid" as the subject.
