JRSC with alternator stepper pulley and jrsc crank pulley only 8psi!
Well i finally got my boost gauge hooked up and I am pretty disapointed
I have a alternator stepper pulley and the JRSC crank pulley on my type R motor and I am only spiking to 7-8 PSI then falling down to about 5-6 PSI by 7K RPM...
Do you think the fact that I have a spearco water cooler have anything to do with my low boost problem!
I thought I would have like 10PSI with no spiking...
so how much PSI should I be running if I was not Intercooled!
Tyler

Is your intercooler a water injection setup or something like the LHT where there is a "brick" inside the manifold? The LHT causes a couple psi of pressure drop. You shouldn't see any pressure drop with water injection.

A stepper on your motor should only see around 9PSI...I would imagine if the air is passed through an IC, you should see some pressure drop.
The way boost drops at high RPM like that tells me the first thing for you to check would be alternator belt tension. Are you slipping at high rpm? What pulley is it?
Edit - I see you have the crank as well...together you should be seeing around 11PSI I would imagine.

but does a boost spike have to be either slipping or boost leak???
I want like 10PSI.. do you think a CRV crank pulley is bigger then the jackson one?

i would say the belt is sliping......i had the same prob.. with the boost droping.. it was the alt belt

Its not a spike, its a drop at high RPM, which indicates alternator belt tension problems, due to either tension on the belt, or a poorly designed stepper pulley which causes the belt to slip.

there no way im changing the aternator pulley,, thats gonna be like a full day work!!
so i guess I should just try to tighten it...
so there no way its a leak?
