ok so am lookin to turbo my b16 motor ..
the motor is still sitting on my garage so any parts that i cud add wud be a lot easier..

i want to know wut parts or wut do i need for a turbo set up..

its probably gonna be a DD but because am swappin think on getting a shell so my EK B16 wud be just for weekends and track..

am tryin to make 400 ..

i was thinkin n getting the t3/t4 garret

other than that thats all i know lol..
well am lookin for .. cus is one of the most expensive ones i believe..

please let me know..

i know there shud be a lot of threads about this but havent really seen one of the PARTS LIST that u need for a turbo set up..

i can get parts way cheaper than that.. and a cud get at least the pro kit parts for the price of the simple set up or less..

You're expecting a silver bullet solution from everyone and not willing to put in the work to research it. Price aside, the point of showing the go-autowerks kit was the fact that it used quality parts, taking care of the smaller items that you're not thinking about. (the feed fittings, flanges, oil lines, return lines, hose clamps, the correct number of couplers, etc). Piecing that stuff together becomes more costly individually than as a set that's being provided, despite your "hook ups".

You also have to realize that not all parts work together. Just because you have an exhaust manifold of some type that may work with a/c and P/s from one source, doesn't mean that the downpipe, turbocharger, and dumptube that you get from another source will work. Getting the manifold and downpipe from one source that you know will work together will keep you from getting headaches and fitment. If you're that good of a fabricator or know of one, and you have the "hook up", then have him make it from scratch and eliminate scrounging around for the "dirt deal".

I get a little frustrated when people are giving good suggestions to those who ask, then get blown off because that person didn't guesstimate the person's budget or price range. if that's important, THEN STATE THE BUDGET FIRST AND FOREMOST. That way you're not wasting time and ours.

As for the exhaust manifold "power question". Once again, you're not being specific as to your budget, power goals, use of the car, etc. You have BE SPECIFIC. state what it is you're looking for by looking at similar setups on this forum (There's a B16a setup thread right on this page that you can look at), and go from there.

In addition, please check out the FAQs regarding the types of manifolds and their uses. I'll help you out here.

I'm gonna stop right here at this point, because now it just gets elementary. Start checking out these links and before asking your next question, take a look at the general cost for setups, and how they're getting them together.

No. Its not rocket science, but planning a budget and some thought have to be considered here if you're going to get anywhere with this without wasting time.

Slow down, check your budget.. more than likely, you're not accounting for a lot of things in your world of "hooks ups", that may make your budget higher than you expect.

am practically new at everything so doin this will be my first .. am getting help from a friend he knows his way around but i want to know how to do this on my own..

Price is not an obstacle? You made it plain that the Goautoworks kit was too expensive so you're contradicting your self. Usually when someone says "price is no object" they aren't really serious.

well price is not .. is just that i wudnt buy those kits knowing i can go cheaper.. if there is a way i can save money while wasting money then ill take that chance if not then i ll buy the kit..

am searching as well if i come up with a price that is almost the same as the kit might as well get the kit right!? but if not then ill go part by part

The Goautoworks kit is definitely NOT a money waster. It's total quality. Whenever I have the money set aside it's going to be my upgrade route. I don't think you read the post clearly but in piecing a kit together, you run the risk of compatibility and fitment issues.

For someone that is trying to "learn" you sure are being hardheaded.

JAJA yeah i was just reading that right now.. is cus am at work and i went thru it real quick before boss catches me.. lol.. on break now so i understood wut he said..

am not i just wanna be sure on wut am wasting on u know..

and hopefully that kit will be my new years gift..

motor is sitting waiting a tranny.. still lookin for it..
motor mounts are on its way..

camgears are on hold for right now..

so that will do for a bit.. til my turbo set up comes....

All the advice up to this point has been quality. Goautoworks is definitely good quality from what I heard at a price that's not too bad either.

If you're wanting to save money, save it on things that aren't going to help with the performance of the car (dress up parts, small power gain parts, etc). I would definitely throw the cam gears into this list UNLESS you are getting aftermarket cams and have a tuner that will properly degree them in for you. If you aren't doing either of those, save that money for elsewhere because outside of those two things, they are just eye candy.
