J/R supercharger ?????
My buddy has a stock b16 J/R supercharged 6 PSI. he's getting a noise that sounds kinda like pre-ignition or fuel ping. only does it at full throttle, and goes away in Vtec. Timming is set at 16 and we have tried 18 and 14 degrees as well. If anybuddy has came across this problem, or has heard of it. chime in and help me out.

So you're getting detonation, then you try both retarding and advancing your ignition? You doofs shouldn't be working on your own cars.

I don't think it is detonating. it is more like a loud clicking sound. It isn't hesitating or anything. no loss in power, just an anoying noise.
How about you try answering the question next time jackass. that is why I posted it. just because you don't know the answer either, doesn't make us the "doofs".

Have your friend read: http://www.phearable.net/tech/....html
What is he using for fuel management ? An fmu ?
If so he should look into uberdata, crome, hondata, neptune etc.

Is the car tuned? What managment? Maybe try backing the timing down a few degrees and see if it goes away. If so then you know its probably pinging.

You said it sounds like detonation and it only occurs at full throttle. That is detonation. JR superchargers don't ping. What more do you want? Back down your timing already.

Hmmm...
Sounds like tip-in detonation. Detonating because the boost comes in quicker than the car's setup can transition for.
The base timing should be more like 10 degrees unless your friend has the JR map mod or some type of standalone.

The car isn't tuned yet...he just is running what came with the supercharger as far as fuel management. Someone said to back the timing off like .8 degrees per/lbs of boost. Does that sound right.

See, there's your problem. It is tip-in. If I were you, I would buy a JR Map controller on ebay. They're only about $50 used, which is well worth it.
Without the MAP contoller, you have to overly retard timing just to get rid of tip-in. With the MAP controller, tip-in is virtually eliminated so you can run the actual timing you need with the supercharger.
It's kind of hard to ask us what timing to run. It depends on what octane you're using, what quality gas you're using, and your elevation. Just keep retarding the ignition until the noise stops.
