Are itr cams good for turbo
I posted this in the crx side but wanted to post where it belongs. A guy on here said that I only needed the itr intake cam because the exhaust cam is the same on a b16, So do these cams work well with turbo set up running anywhere from 7-15psi. Does anybody have this set up, is worth it, or should I save my money for the crower stage 2 turbo cams.

Itr cams are awesome for the turbo. I produced tons of power with them and no problem. Don't waste ur money on crower unless it is a strip bitchhhh.. I ran 10's with my stock R cams . The money that ur planning to dump on crower cams, buy hondata instead.

i recommend buying camshafts that are for a turbo application. yes itr camshafts kick much ***. but it is known that vtec hinders performance of forced induction due to the overlap in the cam profile. In the higher rpm area (such as for vtec) the cam profile has too much overlap; long overlap is necessary for naturally aspirated engines, but say with 15psi+ of boost it will hinder performance. anyways, the choice is up to you. itr camshafts are nice to have, but personally i would go with a turbo camshaft. if you cant afford the turbo ones, just stick to the itr's.

i a confused about the whole turbo cam issuse. i know that itr cams have a high duration and alot of overlap but jg's vtec turbo cams have an insanely high duration but i am not sure if it has alot of overlap, but know with the JGedelbrock turbo cams they came out with also have a high duration. what would your suggeston be

Duration = more air/fuel IN on a turbo
Overlap = more air/fuel OUT the exhaust on a turbo.
Thats why your not going to get a direct on an ITR cam.....because when you compare it to a 'turbo cam' that has about the same specs, but with less overlap, you will be making more power because less of the charge went out the exhaust.
Now, the cam your coming from might be one that is holding back some potential and an ITR stick will free up some of that potential, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go with a 'turbo cam'. I mean, if the cam your coming from had about the same overlap or little less....obviously going with a higher lift, longer duration stick is going to make more power....ala ITR.
Like its been said earlier, the choice is yours....but I'd do some comparisons first, as you've already stated you looked at some but didn't note the overlap.

your right i know that the edelbrock cams are high duration and high lift but i am not sure one bit of the overlap. i am going to see if can find out and post it later. thanks for your help.

Assuming the duration isn't excessively long, can't you just tune out the overlap using cam gears? If (for example) ITR cams and JG Turbo cams have similar durations but different amounts of overlap, isn't this just a matter of cam timing?
