Default Internal vs. external wastgate?

Is there anything to be gained from switching to an external wastegate on a system that only pushes 10 psi max?

Currently I have an internal wastegated turbo. I have heard rumors that it is possible to convert to an external. How is this done properly without replacing the entire turbo with one specificly made for an external?

Technically, if it is a T3, you could remove the internal dashpot and weld an external gate off of the flange at the appropriate location. Are you having problems? ...if it ain't broke...

The only reason to to switch to external would be if you are having boost spike/ pressure creep....of your not then just stay with the internal...

my damn spanish teacher hates it when i talk in spanglish i'd go ahead and leave it internal for now, but if you plan on going bigger upgrade it all at the same time....
