you will need and block off plate, do you have a flange on your manifold for the external wastegate?

To answer your question.......... Yes you can turn an internally wastegated Turbo into an external one.

You don't need to buy a bigger turbo, just the right manifold and a block off plate as oxSLEEPERxo mention in his post.

Don't know about the power thing with an external vs. internal. I have used both and have had a harder time controlling the boost in VTEC with the external one. I haven't done a re-tune since I installed the external WG so I can't comment.

I've posted in other threads a couple of times trying to get an answer to this problem but no one responded. I think mine is caused by a combination of things like;

Manifold design (the WG port is pointing away from the direction of flow)?
Possibly the AVC-R boost controller?
WG may be to small (35mm)?

Anyways its frustrating to say the least...............

I've ordered a 46mm WG, building a new "Ram Horn" manifold and checking the AVC-R solenoid for correct operation (as well as all the wiring).

Any thoughts?
