Default Intercooler Piping and Intercooler Question ....

Hey guys I'm have a problem choosing an intercooler and the piping that will go along with it.

Right now I have the greddy type 31 intercooler with the greddy piping that came with the 00 Si Kit. Obviously I decided to go bigger and better.

I believe its 2" from the turbo to the IC and then 2.25" from the IC to the throttle body. My questions are:

1. With the sc61 that im going with, will it be beneficial to run 2.5" piping both, before and after the Intercooler to the Throttle Body?

2. With the power levels I want, and NOT looking to modify the stock bumper support, I think the Greddy type 24 will be a good option, I like the precision, but it does take some fab work. Even the medium size requires cutting the bumper support.

HELP

In theory, it would take less time to pressurize a smaller diameter pipe. I'm an hvac drafter though. I think you'll be ok with what you have unless you just want to upgrade.

Fredo, you are just itching to buy another new shiny part, you can't control yourself

did u consider a backdoor intercooler from PWR?

lol yeah maybe.

What does the PWR back door look like? I'm running A/C so I think that might get in the way of things.

I guess with the smaller pipes to the IC from the turbo the air has more velocity when it reaches the IC, but I also heard this is ideal for smaller turbos. With the SC61 I'm not to sure this theory holds true because it flows a lot more then say the 18G.

anymore ideas/pictures/rants

Yupp, and I'm thinking that too, maybe I'll just get the Greddy Type 24

i think greddy prolly did a lot of homework on the piping sizes.

The compressor outlet of the SC61 and most T4/T3 turbos is 2.0" so it only makes sense to use 2.0" piping from the turbo to intercooler.
