Default intercooler hide

i had my intercooler polished by a wheel shop back in the day, probably 4 years ago, and its taken a beating from bugs and stones and what not on the highway, that and it stuck out like a sore thumb and is an odd shape so people always commented on it, and lastly it shined really bright and it would reflect from the sun like a laser beam.

so i decided to hide it as much as i could.
check it out.

before:

Bumper is off, boost tubes are plugged

apartment has a balcony so i had to make that work with storing all my parts while i worked so no one ran away with my bumper.

you can see the intercooler all masked and roughed with sandpaper, not sure what grit, didnt really care at the time.

just supplies and additional shots of the same stuff

here is it after paint, still masked, set to dry

unmasked and looking hot, ready to install

here it is mounted up and fastened, looks fairly ok

and final pic of it installed.

comments or suggestions... its pretty straight forward, i didn't paint the core because i didnt wanna mess around with it and plus, it looks like i run a half rad or something.

so ya, i know its not the hardest thing in the world but hopefully someone will maybe gain something from it.

ps my camera is a piece of ****.

some people complain that when you paint the core it effects the efficiency of the IC, it does, but its not enough to worry about it, imo. (if you put 8 coats on then yeah your an idiot and its going to kill efficiency)

i think your just seeing the middle part of the stock grill. the two holes on either side are from some japanese dude cutting up the grill for fog lights.

Did you scuff up the aluminum? If not, there's a good chance the paint will start flaking off wherever any new bug or rock hit it.

Other than that, looks better. But that is an odd fmic, not the typical thin, high frontal area prefered today. Had to comment
