Default Intercooler efficiency question...

Hey guys....

I purchased a FMIC from SSAC on ebay, i've been running it on my car for about a year and i've had no issues.

I've started taking my car a little more serious and i've upgraded turbo's, etc so now i'm begining to question the quality/efficiency of the SSAC peice.

What do you guys think? Junk? good?

whats the specs? core size? inlet and outlet size? core size will be the key factor but it seems like people have good results with the ebay intercoolers.

My goal is only about 450awhp ... I've heard some rumors that the core is from a radiator or something to that effect, so im just concerned that it's not as efficient as it could be, i'd hate to pay for dyno time and tuning only to find out that another brand of intercooler could have made me 50+ more hp....

that fmic has a pretty big core size. its comparable to the biggest pwr and full-race cores that support 600whp. dunno if it gonna be as effecient but since you already own it you might as well use it until it becomes a problem. keep an eye on the IATs and if they are getting too high then maybe you can upgrade, but until then i'd go for it.

I don't think I've ever seen a bar and plate radiator before. But, an intercooler basically is a radiator. It's just a heat exchanger, which is what a radiator is, except it has air running through it instead of coolant.

I would say, as long as it's not leaking, and your IATs are in check, then let her rock

No need to go spending your hard earned $$ on a new intercooler if you don't need one.
