Installing forged rods after motor break-in.......
I have installed a set of forged CP pistons and stock rods into my motor. It’s been driven on for ~1,000 miles right now. Compression checks in great and the engine is running strong. The engine burns no oil and temperature is fine. I’m now thinking that I should have dropped in some forged rods also (couldn’t afford it during the time). I’m planning to pull the motor back out and get some rods for it. The question is, would I have to rehone my cylinder walls?

i dont think it would be a good idea to rehone now that u have the ring seated but if the rings are old and u reeused the ring that u had on the previus engine I said rehone

That's what I was thinking. Since I'm using the same rings and they are not damaged, they should be fine. Any other people with opinions about this?

it will be fine. If the rings are good you can reuse. Sucks that u have to take the motor to pieces again just to add some rods in. Maybe you should sleeve it this time too just in case you decide you want to do that after you assemble the motor again.

Yeah, it does suck having to do it over again. But better to install them now than have to worry about them when the turbo goes in. I don't need to resleeve. This things an iron block. Thanks for the confirmation guys.

LoL. Sometimes I wonder about people. I'm assuming when you got your CP Pistons they came with new Piston Rings, if that is the case, I'm gonna assume that when you had your Pistons and Rings installed you did rehone your block? If that is the case, I would just put the rods on and don't worry about it, it's too little of mileage to cause any dramatic affect especially since the rings are now seated to the new hone already.
But you know what happens when you assume.
