installing a block guard... help
iv done a thousand searches and came up with dozens of different answers.
i have a gsr going to be running 15-20 psi i was told a block guard would be good cheap insurance from blowing sleeves, every search i came up with everyone has different answers on weather they are good or bad and how to install them, some say lightly tap it in, some say tack weld it in, re-bore and hone it.. ect..
i would just like to know officially what i need to do to safely and reliably install or do people have evadence that they suck and push aganst the sleeves too much. please help i did lots of searches and did not come up with a final answer thanks

i'm also having fitment issues and would love some feedback on the usage of blockgaurds. Is it worth putting in for the extra protection, or is it good as is stock?

They dont just drop in, they shoudl be installed professionaly and welded in. I dont agree with it but some people hammer theirs in.

i tapped mine in with a punch and hammer, lightly, till it was slightly below the deck and THEN i had it bored .20 over as i was planning to do. I never had ANY issues with it. When i took the motor apart a year later and a **** load of miles and 500+ Hp, a hair line crack at the top of one of the sleeves was found. had the blockguard not been there it probably would have split all the way down and left me stranded somewhere.

I have built an LS block and head w/ stock sleeve and blockguard, Not a single problem at all. Made 417whp with stock LS head. I'd say, use it. Dont weld it on there, just tap it in til' it's lower than your deck and then get it bore and hone just like SPOOLINmatt said above.
