Injector size Recommendations for a T3 Super60 on a D16?
Hey guys, just looking for input for my Turbo build (rebuilt D16y7->y8 Head, cleaned up with OE rod bearings, rings, and OEM main seals, Crower springs & retainers, new OEM valve stem seals and a few other things as a 170k teardown- put on 3k miles this fall with ~155psi compression tested across IIRC)
-Yes, I've looked around for information, just want more specific feedback for my exact setup, as this is the first and only car I've really wrenched on- as a local club AutoX/track hobby build
I am *hoping* for about 280HP from a Turbonetics T3 Super 60, I expect I'll need to use a 14psi WG spring, and have a smaller 2.5" piped-FMIC, so with all that in mind:
-will DSM Injectors (already have them) give enough spray for this setup, for under 300hp on 93 pump gas
-instead of a 14PSI WG spring, should I get a ~7psi, with the DSM's and rest of this setup, to not-destroy the motor
Thanks in advance, and let me know if I need to go into more detail on anything!

DSM's are too small for 280 wheel HP. You need bigger to safely reach your target HP goal. Just go big like 750's and don't worry about it anymore... that way, you can have room to grow and/or change to high volume fuels like E85.

yup I agree with that. I did 525cc then I wanted more HP and now im on 1000cc
DSM injectors are kinda hassle anyway, most setups require injector box and there not as good as some of the newer injectors like FIC/ ID
but to give you some ballpark ideas of different power levels per injector size use this calc

its just about impossible to guess what PSI you will need to reach your goal for most of us anyway, best to leave that up to your tuner, IMO better to have a smaller spring and use a boost controller to dial it in. Manual or electronic depending on your preference
this HP calc is pretty damn close in my experience

550s would probably do it, but i'll repeat what was said above - go a bit larger so you're not immediately limited. Personally, i'd go 720-750cc.
If you're interested, i have a spare set of PTE 1000s sitting in my garage. PM me if you want details.

I definitely want to err on the side of caution with this build, especially with the fueling and tune- I just ordered one of the Ebay WG's because it was cheap (and can be upgraded later easily enough) and it's coming with 5 and 10psi springs so I have a couple choices when I find a Dyno (and all the other odds n ends)
-Looks like 550 will be just barely enough, so I'll get some 750cc's or bigger then!
And as for corn feeding this- doubtful on this platform, since the nearest E85 station to me is out of state- 2.5 hrs away (ok, I could make it a day trip and fill a couple big jugs when I needed it, once I trade my daily Impreza for a truck). I'll probably go E85 If/when I blow up the D, and swap in something better... assuming I keep the car.
Thanks everyone!

450s should be fine for a super 60? I was probably just nearing the 80% mark on mine around 300whp. Nothing you cant fix with a little bump in fuel pressure.

I was going to say this exact same thing. I hit 302whp at 82% duty cycle on my 450cc bluetops. and from a super 60 t3 garrett too. though mine is a standard 60 trim garrett t3 with the compressor housing modified to fit the super 60 wheel.

With how far I'll have to go to get it Dyno'd and tuned, I think I'll play the safer bet and upgrade from the DSM's so I don't have to worry about it- but I guess 550's are still on the table

Exactly, this, if you need a little more fuel just bump up the fuel pressure a bit. 450cc should be fine for a d16 and a super60.

i had DSM blue tops (440cc i believe) in my build which was t3 42/63, conservatively I got to 240-250.
