Important question about turboing d16y8
Long time reader, first time poster.
I really value this websites opinion so i had a question to ask. I have a d16y8 civic and im wanting to boost it. Anyway I found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1
And I was wondering if that would work, and what else I would need. I know you guys are very against ebay, but I'm very broke. Thanks a lot.

Well, first off its an SSAC kit.
Go to the search and type in ssautochrome......all your questions will be answered.
Lots of feedback on here regarding that kit.

If you're very broke then go to a junkyard and pick pieces off turbo cars and put a kit together, it will be cheaper and more reliable than an SSauto kit. Granted some junkyard turbos are pretty worn out but you can get decent turbos in the classifieds for under $150. And if you're really broke you really shouldn't be turboing your car in the first place. Oh, and read up newb.

Stay away from that kit. ssca is absolute crap as is obx. Stay away from ebay turbo kits and parts all together.

Re: Important question about turboing d16y8 (scottishdave)
I have an old friend in MB, TN
That kit will work, but eventually crack. VERY thin walls used on the piping and manifold. It also doesn't have any fuel management.
Its better to get 90* and 180* bends from summitracing, charge pipe couplers, a junkyard turbo, a basemap (chip your ecu), and a manifold (~$200 off HT) for the same price.
