idling large injectors???
I'd write a novel if I compared feature for feature between the Haltech and the Hondata, but no; the Haltech only has one map. If you change the VTEC point you'll need to change the fuel map to reflect it, which is definitely a drawback. VTEC is supported based on RPM's and engine load, which is nice. Also secondary butterfly valves are supported as well.
I like playing with the car and learning averything I can about it, so the Haltech is more interesting to me than the Hondata. I just made up some test plugs to try and figure out the wiring. These are the wires I needed to get the thing to idle:
4 injectors wires
4 trigger wires (home +/- and crank +/-)
1 power and 1 ground (ground not in pic)
3 MAP sensor (power, ground, sensor)
1 fuel pump (not in pic)
1 ignition wire (not in pic)

I have to wire up the supporting items afterwards; coolant temp, air temp, O2, VTEC, etc... but that's all it took to tune the idle and get someone to make up a base map for me.
If I had gotten Mark to help me out more it would have been alot easier, but I like to do it myself. I'll be writing an article on the install in a few weeks after I get everything running fine.

Man I want a haltech so bad its killing me.... The only reason i've kept my latptop is so when I get one I will be able to program it. I use another EMS on our SAE F1 team at school so setting up base maps won't be too hard, its name escapes me, we also setup our own dyno with load control... can you say badass? to bad its only rated for like 150hp (motorcycle dyno). One day, One day, i'll have the hal power.
