Default IC size piping

hey guys..i am curious as to what size IC pipe to use. i hear MANY people have different theories on which size piping (2" or 2.5") is better. can someone give me the "general rule of thumb" of what larger piping (2.5") does compared to smaller piping (2")?

and what size piping does the DRAG, FMAX and REVHARD turbo kits use?

my buddy told me he THINKS the DRAG kit uses a 2.5" IC piping and only a 2" charge pipe..which also makes me wonder why the kit uses two sizes. let me know your opinions and suggestions and WHY?

btw, im looking to build a high 11-low 12 sec b16a HB. if that helps at all

I was thinking about that the other day. I think it may have something to do with the fact that air expands as it cools, so the larger piping on the cold side of the IC would compensate for this. Anybody else?

Air expands as it is HEATED not cooled. This goes for non-air type things too.

2.25" piping is enough for 600 whp. 2" would be fine for the street.

I have 2.75" piping all the way around..Would that mean that I'm experiencing a large amount of pressure drop?? Everything seems fine, I made 277whp and 222ft/lbs of tq @ 9 psi. Could I have possibly made more???

I was told that the charge side of the pipings should match the turbo outlet and the throttle body side of the piping should match the throttle body opening. sounds reasonable to me.
