Default I overheat while in boost

I just had my crx tuned with a turbo and now I overheat while engine is in boost. At idle the car is fine. I've used waterwetter to help combat the heat but it didn't help. I have a very small pwr rad with a 12" fan. I ran the car with the hood off and the heat problem went away. Any suggestions?

check your fan. this is usually the cause of most overheating problems. also do a search it helps, has helped me and plenty of others.

Fan is blowing in the correct direction. Burped the air out of the cooling system. Upper rad. hose is sitting just above head. I'm at a loss?? Anything else?

I should know if the headgasket is blown though. Coolant would be a differant color/smoke out the tailpipe....right?

Not necessarily. My buddy's car blew a headgasket and the only symptom was that under boost it would overheat and it would blow coolant out of the reservoir due to the pressurized cooling system.. There was no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant.

look for small black particles in your coolant. that would be the coating on your headgasket

I dod see very tiny black particles in the coolant. Do I have a headgasket problem? Why would the headgasket go on me. It's just been rebuilt???

Is this a SOHC engine your running turbo on? If it is... you may very well blow the head gasket as SOHC engine is prone to do that. I sugest you replace the head gasket and have the head check for warpage. ALso...how much are you boosting? might want to check your timming.

if it's a d motor then head lifting issues usually causes this symptom. check your head bolt torque, and i would drain your oil to see if any water/oil mixture had occured. i would replace stock head bolts with arp's if you haven't done that yet.

do a compression and leak down test, but it seems like you DO have a blow headgasket, since you said you do see black particles in your coolant.

Does it make a differance that my rad is 13x13? With a 12" fan?? I was told that should be enough. The problem is the rad. does not get much if any fresh air to it.

Run a pusher and puller fan...also stack a couple washers on the bolts that hold the hood on. It will give it a slight raked look but allow the heat to escape from the engine bay.

I thought the washers were a good idea. I tried that all ready. Maybe I should try to jack it up a little bit more. I also took the 2 weather strips off the inside of hood to help air flow too.
