Head studs/or bolts for TURBO F22b1???
Called ARP no luck, can anyone help me out??? ... Im boosting 10 psi and blowing coolant into my resevoir, but no oil in water or water in my oil. This ONLY happens when I really beat the car. I know one solution is not to beat the car... but id rather take care of the problem... and go to 13 psi.
Think my bolts are stretched/stretching... Is re torqueing them an option.. or do i have to change bolts/studs????
Need help/ Part number
THANKS guys!!!!

The H23 and F22 head bolts are the same from honda. I used the ARP H23 head studs in my build up and didnt have any problems.

Same here. I recommend Lightning Motorsports. I can't guarantee f22b1's are the same as f22b2's though (I'm using an f22b2).

I can't guarantee it but I would give it an 98% chance of working in my personal opinion.
I know for a fact that it will work on an F23Ax, we have dennis' testimonial to the F22B2, and the F-series heads are all pretty much interchangeable. I say you'd be all set.
Headgasket I stick with OEM with copper spray, that with the ARP studs and I haven't had any head gasket problems at all.

I turned DOWN boost to 8.5-9 psi and beat the car all the way to work....no cooplant spittle , (its amazing what jusat that 9-10.5 psi jump does for the *** dyno) im assuming headstuds, and a new oem gasket + good tune should render 13-14psi safe with all stock internals????
comp is 180-175-175-178.......cant remember what order...
Motor seems to be liking it!!!

I've been running copper spray coated stock with no problem. On my second. (had to pull the head 1 time). last time I checked, f22parts was a rip. I just order OEM parts from http://slhonda.com and http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
I'll try to hit my buddy up when he gets online. he has an f22b1

it's all in the tune. eventually the stock pistons will likely give up, the harder/further you push it the faster it will die. but you'll have a smile on your face until then!

Ya i was planning on building a block before this summer with rods and pistons....and upgrade to 750 cc injectors (go for higher boost)
For now- Just wanted to run 10- 13 psi till then. i got 260 whp 270 tq @ 10 psi on a conservative tune (like 12.6 a/f - i think) ...figured i could get close to 300 with 13 psi, just for the weekends, and run 10 during the week.... ran a 13.90 so far with EVERYTHING in the car (@10 psi w/subs, spare....etc.)
**** if im gonna do the head gasket and studs anyway..... i gues i could just pull the pan and drop rods and forged pistons in this block huh....
Im starting to wonder if this whole coolant spitting thing may just be a funky thermostat...

yikes I'd consider that too lean man, have that dropped to 11.5:1 or so.

you could but honing the cylinders w/ the crank still in place I would not do personally, as you'll never get all the little metal shavings out of the block. I say pull it out and do it fully once but to each their own.
I absolutely HATE being under the car w/ the oil pan off, the constant oil dripping on my head drives me insane. I can't imagine trying to torque bolts, etc. under there w/ the drippage. My hair is on end right now just thinking about it. LOL

if coolant is being ejected out of your overflow bottle I really don't think it's your thermostat - sounds like head lift to me.

Ya im not gonna gop for the ghetto build... Just the studs and head gasket for now....+ retune, I was just thinking out loud....
But seriously, ima go look at my dyno sheet to check the AFs...I thought that 12.6 was the lean point of the tune, now ya got me wanting to check aGAIN.
Ya im pretty sure that the head is lifting, i thought i actually remembereds one of you guys mentioning it before to someone else, thats why i posted. I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP!!!
Actually one more dumb question...... Studs, or bolts.... Pros/Cons???

Re: Head studs/or bolts for TURBO F22b1??? (bigdaddyvtec)
studs: re-usable, much better clamping force and consistant torque readings when tightened
bolts: use once and toss out, less consistant torque when tightened
studs are the way to go.

Re: Head studs/or bolts for TURBO F22b1??? (bigdaddyvtec)
your headgasket is already compromised, I would pull the head, have it checked & decked (if necessary) at a machine shop, and reinstall with a new gasket & studs.

Actually, I checked the helms today. First step 22 ftlbs. Second stage is 180 degree for used bolts and 270 deg for new bolts. TTY yo!
