Head Studs

I have a h23 in eg and im putting 12:1 commpression pistons in it and I was wondering if I needed new head studs. And how strong are our head studs.

1st question to help a n00b ... Is your h23 sleeved ?

Nope there not forged and the description said the block doesn't need to be sleeved

The OEM HEAD BOLTS are perfectly strong, but after one use they will be stretched. Head STUDS (ARP for example) are stronger and they won't stretch nearly as much as the OEM bolts, plus the stud and nut design is an upgrade from bolts in many ways.

I don't really know how to answer your question, do you want the amount of force it takes to cause them to fail or what? I doubt your higher compression will cause any failures....
