I need advice on a used T3 turbo with new pictures
I recently went to Pick Your Part here in town a salvaged myslef a Garrett T3 Turbo from a 1987 Chrysler New Yorker. Before I puller the turbo out of the engine bay I checker to see if the turbines where in good shape. They turned easily and have no play whatsoever. I Felt that this was a sign of a decent turbo unit.
After getting it home I cleaned it up real good. It looks like it is in very good condition http://members.home.net/jeremy.lynch/T3turbo.htm I noticed a little bit of what looks like dirty engine oil in the intake output side of the compressor. Just a little. This concerned me so I filled the bearing area with oil and put a air pump in the oil input area and a plug in the oil output. I pumped about 20 to 30 psi into this area. I expected oil to come out of the intake turbine, but nothing. I did hear very faint bubbly air leaks sounds in the exhaust turbine area. I pumped air into the turbo oil area for about 15 mins, but still not oil leaks.
I doubt any of you have gone to this length to see if you bearings leaked, so I won't even ask. BUT, those of you with newer turbos...have you seen some oil in the intake output side of the compressor?
Do I need to replace my bearing?
Advice is much appreciated

Re: I need advice on a used T3 turbo (Teluan)
what is the number on the inside of the compressor outlet. If it's anything smaller then 60 go back to the yard and grab a turbo off of an old turbo thunderbird, they are 60 trims. Also, if you're worried about the turbo being no good, contact bamabev78@aol.com and tell them the year and make of the car and they sell rebuilt cartridges for $100. I've ordered about 5 of them from her so far for me and all my friends. then just slap your old housings on the new cartridge and you have almost a brand new turbo for $200.

Really! Excuse my ignorance, but is the cartridge the bearing housing? And if so, I've heard that you can not take apart a T3 turbo without getting someone to balance it after Is this true?
Much appreciated TurboInteg95

Oh yeah, I have two numbers. .48 on the exhaust side and .42 on the intake side. Is this no good for a 1991 CRS si?

that will be ok, I wasnt aware that you had a stock motor in your CRX, I was thinking B series. She sells the entire cartridge, all you have to do is put your compressor and exhaust housings on it and you have a brand new turbo.
