Is this a bad turbo?
Today i got my turbo, a garrett 25 (.48 compressor housing .49 exhaust housing) and i think i have and issue. It does not have any side to side play but it seems to have quite some radial play. If i spin the turbine by hand it stops within 1-2 seconds. I also tried blowing air in the oil inlet while i covered the oil outlet and i could hear some air coming out on the exhaust side. I put some oil in the oil passage and tried blowing again and i can see some oil in the exhaust housing and also very little oil comes out through the oil outlet.
Which of these symptoms are normal? Does this turbo need to be rebuilt? Please let me know asap! I really need some help with this!

How old is the turbine? It would be in your best interest to have a turbo repair shop look at it. Sounds like the shaft needs to be replaced considering you said that it stops within 2 seconds after manually spinning it. A complete rebuild can cost you from $200 on up. Just make sure that it is a reputable shop or a knowledgeable person that is working on it.

Re: Is this a bad turbo? (NVturbo)
I have found a complete rebuild kit for this turbo for $130 shipped. Are there any complicated things to do when rebuilding the turbo? I'm very handy with mecanics.

That's even better. Usually when you have it rebuilt by a shop the labor cost is what kills....the parts are not really that expensive. Make sure you have all the necessary components and double-check yourself afterwards. All turbines are hand-assembled from the factory so you should be able to rebuild your turbo yourself with the right tools. IM when you are finish....in case I need to rebuild mine...knock on wood!!
