I HAVE JOINED THE DARK SIDE... (3 semi big pics inside)
here are some side notes:
first time i started the car w/ the turbo on... gas spewed all over the place. we went ghetto and used those little clips to hold down the fuel lines... we replaced them with the little ring thingies that need flat head screw drivers.
second time starting car, i see lots of dripping oil... ****, forgot to tighten a piece of the oil sending line.. it was extremely hard to get to. basically if i didnt use pliers i would of had to take the piping, downpipe, turbo, manifold, oil lines, etc off to get to it. we got real lucky there.
third time.. works good... dbl check for leaks, triple check for leaks, put bumper on... try to put bumper on... TOOK FOUR HOURS TO PUT BUMPER ON... i had to trim so much of the fuggin bumper, it would just not freakin fit.. and a part of my bumper still doesnt fit right... it looks like one of the holes near the mudguard got enlarged and the 10mm screw is too small.. (if anyone has a good way to make my bumper stay please let me know)
started at 6am... finished at 10pm... took it for a spin... stupid me, i couldnt help... i kept banging on it. im such a dumbass! then i pulled over... "oh **** smoke" so i cut the engine... "oh **** its a turbo... im supposed to wait" so i start the car back up... smoke is gone... guessing it was the oil we spilt burning up. drove it soft a few blocks, pulled over... no oil... drove it a lil more hard... was good.
while im typing this up, i just realized i forgot to retard the timing. oh and fyi guys... 12:1 fmu, stock fuel pump, stock timing, no audible detonation. maybe i got real lucky since its cold outside. will retard the timing tomorrow, fix bumper hopefully, and install an inline fuel pump within a few days.
with the turbo on, my car actually has less lag then kamikaze 4-1 headers... i love it lol... i can drive around in fifth gear at low speeds and i dont have to down shift (of course i do but its nice to know you dont have to)
last note... i couldnt really notice any power with my butt dyno.. but i kinda felt a big rush after 4k rpms. one of my friends riding with me said he felt a big kick at 4.5k, and i felt no torque like always... until i switched to the passenger seat... and this time around i actually get pushed back into my seat.. the first time ever in my car.
thats all... sorry if i typed too much but afterall i just got a turbo

Re: I HAVE JOINED THE DARK SIDE... (TurboSohc)
I had the same problem that you are having now with the I/C rubbing up against the bumper. I had my I/C all the way back on the beam as possible(just before that slanted edge in the back) and the I/C and piping still rubbed.
Solution: I desided to drill on the slanted edge in the back, which makes the I/C look a little slanted, but it works just as well, looks just as good, and my bumper fits like it was stock. I'm sure there are lots out there that say that is stupid, but it works better and you don't need to do any shaving or cutting of the bumper.
BTW, I had the same problems as you when I started the car. !st time I had a 4 inch stream of fuel coming from the FPR. I lost the O rind somewhere and didn't realize it when I put it back on .
