hx on boost
i was wondering if anyone has turboed their civic hx (d16y5)
so far i havent heard of anyone with any kind of forced induction on the y5
i was planning on swaping in a z6 but if i could turbo the y5 i think it would be more satisfying
if i do decide to use the y5 i will custom build the kit
looking for around 160-170 whp on 5-6 pounds of boost
info on setups, problems encountered, and opinions would be greatly appreciated

ok just go to search and type in d16y5. only things you have to worry about is the 5 wire o2 sensor and vtec engagement at 2800 or so. i believe the guy's name is brext0r not sure but he turbo'd his y5 and he made the same torque as hp.
if you plan on using the afc hack, the wiring for the afc is different for the y5.
no one ever really tried to convert it to obd1 because of the different feul maps and etc. but you could be the first to try to use uberdata or hondata.
but thats about it
p.s. it'll be alot easier if you just swap out the y5 head for a y8 or z6 head. yeah the y5 head has roller rockers but the y8 and z6 head has aftermarket cams

my hx is turboed but I swapped the stock motor for a b18c :-p If i were going to charge the stock motor I might decide to use the JRSC instead. That way you have the power immediately at hand like its needed on the small d series engines.
We have done 2 hx's converted to OBD1 on uberdata. One from OBD2A, one from OBD2B. At first we tried one on the hack and couldn't do any pulls without throwing codes. The maps would also not change no matter how much fuel correction we did on the V-AFC. It run a little too lean up to a certain rpm, then dump fuel and dip into the 9's A/F wise.
Once we went to OBD1 everything was fine. Took us forever to tune the first one, but it works a lot better than the hack ever would. We set vtec at 2500. These motors seem to be very finicky about the A/F. not sure if it's the head or what. You will also have to rewire the o2 sensor for closed loop to work.

Yeah do a search. I remember a while back about problems with the hx, i cant remember exactly what it was but I believe the person just swapped out the head for a ex head. The gains wern't to impressive for the amount of work. Don't quote me on any of this, i'm just going by memory and this was about 2 years ago, a lot has changed since then.
