Default HUGE Problems!!!

the amount of frustration that goes along with the installation of this very simple turbo kit has hit an all time high and im going to sell this stupid *** car very soon if i cant get it running! ok so a few weeks after installing my drag turbo kit in my 97 lx w/ b16 my blox map bypass valve finally arrives so now i can finally run boost right? NO WRong...the car wouldnt start after installing the bypass and when i held the gas to keep it alive it was running like 11 in Hg of vacuum and very very lean....so i call blox and they say to decrease the length of vacuum line that goes from the map sensor to the map bypass (type b by the way) and that doesnt work either....i have been running pretty rich the past few weeks so i thought the plugs might be fouled so i take them out and there werent any signs of feul or buildup (these are NGK BKR7E..these ok for my setup?) so i put them back in and then take out the map bypass and return it to what i think is normal and now the car is doing almost the exact same thing...i need to keep it from stalling with gas, it sounds terrible and want to just bog out, when i drive it is real choppy....i have no idea, this setup is giving me so many headaches and for no dan reason...anybody know anywhere in the south jeresy area that knows turbo like a tuner or mechanic that could look at it for me? any advice is welcomed and i need to get it running soon or im gonna go insane!!!! could it just be bad plugs?

i can't help you with the map bypass problem but in my oppinion you should consider a better engine management system... if money is an issue get uberdata, crome or something else... thats a way better solution in my eyes and you won't have such problems.

if you want more boost later this is also better to have a good engine management system.

Sorry that i can't help you any more :-(

:werd: quit screwing around with fmus and bypasses, and get some injectors and a free ems solution. theres really no good reason to run an fmu anymore.

sounds like your map sensor isn't getting any signal. Make sure the vaccum line to the map sensor is good and just atke off the check valves to see if it works. If it does that means it's your check valves. Maybe they are installed backwards.

The reason to run FMU is that it works well for lower boost levels and it's cheaper then even Uberdata. Let the boy get his time on the stock boost level and when he feels like more then yes get better engine managment. No reason to diss FMU when they work for what they are intended for .

i know i need better fuel management...but here are my reasons for just wanting the car to run
1.) the kit and a few other things basically maxed out my $$$$ for the momet
2.) im off to school (not taking the car) in august
3.) have a job where i need to drive to work everyday so cant have the car not functional for a while
4.) no place for tuning around here except jeff evans which is more than 2 hrs away and has a wait of about 2 months
5.) only looking for about 7 psi so the the fmu/check valve setup should be fine for the moment
6.) cant sodder or chip an ecu and dont know of anyone around here that can

I live near atlantic city anybody know where i could even have someone look at it/get a chipped ecu for uberdata and have that installed

i did check the vacuum lines and even got new ones...yeah it sounds to me like there is no signal but why? its not check valves either its a map bypass which is a better replacement for check valves which also didnt work

if you plan to boost your daily driver you cant expect to have it all bolted up and running in a couple hours...........it just doesn't work that way. also if you have no money or time to do it right then you shouldn't do it at all.

my opinion......hope you get your **** sorted out.

ok i do have the money just pissed off that the money i have spent so far has not produced the results...and yes i know turbocharging a NA car can be difficult and i have done all the research on what goes into installing a turbo...i do plan on going with a better feul managment system later down the road but as i said im going off to school soon and just want to run the fmu setup until next summer if i can....now back to the problem i changed out the plugs and now the car will start again...i gave it one last try with the blox map bypass and that didnt work so i gave up for the day...i talked to tech support at blow and drag and both said they have never heard of that before...should i try to just another throttle body with the updated map sensor like one off of a 99-00 Si and use the type a map bypass instead of type b...im running out of ideas and really cant figure out why this is happening...i undertsand that fmu may be the half *** route and may not be good in the long run but it should at least let the car start
