Default HPC ceramic coating starting crack

[EDIT] This was NOT an HPC coating!! I found out almost a year later that there was a miscommunication and that my parts where actually sent to Garrett, not HPC!!

Less then 500 miles on it so far. Just daily driving, no track events yet. No hard runs, not even the temp test I promised.

Is this a natural "cracking" of ceramic coatings? Or am I being set up to major chipping?

The coating on the downpipe scratched off as soon as it looked at the oil return line. I'll get a pick of that tomorrow. Do these coatings scratch off that easily?

It just stretched a little thats normal however if it starts falling off that mean the expanision of the manifold is too great for this coating.

I deal with a local company called Finishline Coatings. I am not sure if they are up and running anymore, but when I had any problems with my coating they would just recoat it for me no problems. I am very very ******* picky, so if it were me I would ship that **** back and have them fix it.

I hate sending stuff out, I rather support my local guys if possible especially with such a small lil thing like coating. They have only had to recoat 1 of the items that they coated for me anyways. With the customer service they have given me, I rather deal with them face to face knowing that they will back up their product.

this is why I prefer swain tech. their sheit doesn't just scratch off!!

I have used hyperkote as well and it just scratched off too!! doesn't work well either.

The problem is most of them are just like paint.

The swain tech stuff is about 4 times as thick, doesn't chip off unless you hit it with a hammer or seriously bump it against something.

I have updated the post above with a huge correction in the company name. I will be posting a separate post entitle "Apology to HPC".

I think a mod changing the title would do just fine.
