HP limits of d16y7 DX block.
I already did a search, I am looking to do a mini-me set up with my old motor (96 d16y7) and im going to turbo it. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the weakest part of the block is, (pistons, rods, sleeves, etc.). And how much HP they can handle before BOOM. I am going to hopefully put on a d16y8 head. I'm also gonna use a thicker head gasket and ARP head studs.
Ive also been doing alot of research on this sort of a build up. I do know for sure that your rods are just pencil thin. The stock D sleeves can hold 300 whp. But you will surely need to change your pistons and rods for over 220 whp. Even 200 whp is pushing it. This is from research on this site...
or just use the search key...

a friend of mine here in Las Vegas has a 99 DX and he's got a home made turbo setup with a good size 20g on there and it running 18 psi. spiking to 20 psi. He's also running 450 cc injectors and 115 octane. the stock clutch has been officially friend this past week and now he's looking for an aftermarket one. Nobody can believe that this y7 hasn't let go yet but alas, it still does. How many HP is he putting down? Who knows...
but yeah, 18 psi is insane.
I'm scared to go anything over 11 psi on my stock y8. I have the engine management but still.
