how will this cam work with boost?
i have a d16z, and i'm fixin to go turbo. i have the zex race cam (pn59300). i was told by some people it won't work as good as stock with boost. after looking at the specs of the cam, i think that's bs. here are the specs:
VTEC INT. EXH
advertised 260 268
duration
duration 220 216
@50
max valve 455 430
lift
centerline 107 111
the center line is better then stock is, and that is what a good boost cam is dependant on. the bigger the centerline, the longer the valves are opened, and the more boost you get in. a close centerline doesn't allow as much to get in. the stock centerline is 103 int, and 107 exh. so looking at the specs of this cam, do you guys thing it'll be good for boost?

I was always under the impression that a short duration, high lift cam was better for forced induction applications. You want lots of lift... the more lift, the more air you can force in at one time. Lots of duration/overlap would mean that while the intake valve is open, you're also opening the exhaust valve, and your boost is going to go in one side and out the other.
This is just what I've heard, and it makes sense to me... Don't take it as truth, just trying to generate discussion.

the zex cam is a nitrous cam. they also use it in their turbo car. I have that cam in my wifes car, and it runs great with her turbo Ive never taken it to the track so i dont know how fast it is, but I like it.

adv duration: 260 / 238
duration at .050": 222 / 200
gross lift: 430 / 428
The Zex cam seems to have higher lift and both have about the same intake, but the zex seems to have longer duration for the exhaust side. Does this mean there's more overlap?
