How much WHP on b16 cams?
What's up H-T
i've just been curious of this... how much power have you push on your setup (to the wheels) with stock b16 cams? motor can be LS/V, B20/V, GSR, and B16 of course... i'm preferably looking for turbo setups..

Very low 500"s with a flowed head, and some cam timing adj it can go a lil more. But the final figure depends on your turbo, piping, boost pressure, fuel type, tune... Etc. The only thing is that, b16 cams limit how far in the rpm range the motor carries power. If your turbo hits peak efficiency flow at 9000rpm and your cams allow peak cfm at 7300 then a higher profile cam is on the cards. It all depends how much boost you want to sqweeze out of that turbo, or just go with a stg 1 cam, to make the same power or more at lower boost (less strain on the turbo, too - if u were pushing limits with b16 cams) I don't think gsr cams offer a sizeable gain to warrant a change in the b16 cams. However if you goin to spend on a good cam, pro1's 9000rpm with suitable valvetrain or tuner 1's with itr/portflow valvetrain and 8600 limit. You can also look into separate int cam and separate exh cam combo, depends how far over 600 u want to go - with a suitable turbo offcourse.. Ht has tonz of info on this and many here have been through it..

not to many people answered cuz theres too much of a broad spectrum of answers..
the addition of bolt ons, and whatever aftermarket parts being used with everyones set up cannot really narrow down 'just what the cam does'
Like said before, B16's are garbage and anyone looking for power will not even look towards a B16. just my .02

Its a broad topic and many factors influence output other than isolating the cams..
I made just over 500whp on a hybrid 61mm turbo at very high boost close to the end of the efficiency range of the turbo, with just above average ign timing adv on approx 116octane with b16 cams.. That power was more than enough for the streets.
About 570-600whp with some portwork, a different cam and valvetrain package, 120octane and more boost.
Guess it depends on the whole setup, a person looking for 400whp with a decent turbo will be more than fine on b16cams and less rpm and less valvetrain wear.
If one still wants to know how much hp b16 cams will support, it goes back to setup, but I don't think 600whp is impossible on those cams, with the right fuel, turbo and tune on a 1.8-2lt motor

C2K_TB_TEC. thanks for your input man. the reason i started this thread is because yes i am only interested on what others are making with the same cams. i have a ls/vtec setup. benson sleeved 81mm ls block, je pistons, crower rod, arp hardware, etc etc. but i have a b16 head with b16 cams, and itr valvetrain. i am running ID 1000cc inj. 2.5in ic pipping, ramhorn, pte billet 6262 @18psi. and 3" exhaust and dp with CAT. i put down 410whp and 330wtq on 91 pump gas.... sooo i just really wanted to see what others were putting down with just stock head.
btw, i am ordering sk2 pro1 cams and complete valvetrain. tuner said should pick up a significant amount of power on the same boost level.

ITR cams FTW. You will not regret it. I made 364 on a stock block at 10psi out of a 60-1 godspeed turbo...thats without cam adjustments. Tuner said it would of made around 400-410 with cam adjustments...on 10psi. I would say those cams do work.
