Default how much boost?

I just smoked my motor this weekend. I was running 9.5 psi on on a b18b1 block and it melted 2 rings on the 1st and 4th holes so now i am going to put in some 9:1 srp forged pistions and some better rings. how much boost can i run with that? I am going to use stock rods. For fuel set up i have vortech 12:1 fmu inline fuel pump and missing link. I am running a turbonetics t3/t4e twin ball bearing turbo with 63 ar. What is the maximum boost i can run with this.

i dont know that 9 is what messed it up. i had been running 11 and 12 psi just prior to blowing it up. I had been running it at 11 for awhile now, but when it let go i was at 9.5.

well you just answered your question as to why it blew, dont push that much boost thru it if you have no idea where your a/f stands and tmiing and what not .
Id suggest a standalone next time , but if you dont have the moeny i guess the afc hack will work . but i dont suggest thme ,

I dont mean to be rude either but turboing a honda is not something one should do if they are still new to the game unless you have a some very knowledgable people that are friends. While you motor is out of commision take time to read read read read read read etc.... you will thank yourself once you get your motor back and are able to keep it alive.

going with the hack isn't going to help you get much past the 9psi range. even with the hack you run the same risk. TUNING is the key. but you should do it 100% this time and just save for a standalone and have it professionally tuned. just my .02

you should have at least ghetto tuned with a 120psi inline pump, and a Vortech FMU, I run 7psi with that setup now for over 25,000 miles, and motor is very healthy... luckily I just got my income tax return... Standalone here I come

i agree dont ghetto rig that ****, 9.5 psi on stock LS block shouldn;t have blown. Dont bother getting AFC. Sell the Vortech FMU, and use the momey u would've used to buy the AFC, to buy hondata s200 with boost. i dont know where u are located but if u are in VA/MD/DC area give AGT racign a call. Hodnata S200 with boost for $495. not bad if you ask me, do it right the first time.
goodluck

Buy a Hondata to go along with those pistons and rings, otherwise you'll just blow them up again if not properly tuned.

Good luck

Let me throw my $.02 & say tuning as well.

B series rods & forged pistons + tuning and you could easily do 1BAR daily.
Same setup - tuning and you can melt your pistons at 9PSI AGAIN!

let me say that although the AFC hack works awesomely when done right with a conservative setup it's still only gonna take care of fuel no timing and your still gonna spend $300 bills on it, Get a Hondata.
